First indoor pub visit with family.
COVID INFO Plenty of hand stations about and staff actively cleaning menus etc after tables were clear. Only one member of staff wearing a mask and no windows/doors open.
Our food Pie/chicken skewers fab Guest Roast was turkey slices which were chargrilled beyond being edible on some slices. Potatoes very sweet. Gravy delicious. Veg was sliced carrots a few peas and some cabbage. Massive Yorkshire. Looked good but burnt meat left a terrible taste. 6yo had cheesy pasta which was pretty inedible once it had cooled slightly (after another waitress had checked in with us) 2 pieces of cucumber. Half a tomato and some lettuce for 5quid. Desserts all lovely though 6yos small triangle brownie was so solid I had to cut it with a knife and a lot of force. 3quid. We spoke to the waitress 're pasta and burnt food and asked for the childrens meal to be taken off receipt as she'd eaten nothing. This was done but meant the drink was no longer free as part of the children's deal and came through at 2.10!!!! Almost as expensive as a beer..... On receiving the receipt we realised we'd been overcharged as some meals had been put through as large (regular) not small (light) though in hindsight they were all the same size. This was amended in a tense fashion.
All in all came away with a bad taste in our mouths and won't be returning which is a shame as we had good...

Read moreWe were visiting Hoddesdon to see our six year old granddaughter appear in a dancing show at the local Spotlight theatre. She did well, recieving an award and medal so the family celebrated the event at the local Sun pub with an early evening meal and drinks.
Arriving at 530pm on a Sunday night the car park was nearly full and the pub very busy. Decked out ready for Christmas the pub had a warm friendly family atmosphere. We ordered drinks and relaxed for 10-15 minutes whilst our table was made ready.
The serving staff were attentive, friendly and helpful when we were making our selection of meals as not all dishes on the menu were available. We went for Hunters chicken, Scampi, Pizza, Chicken Roast and a Beef Roast dinner and weren't kept waiting long.
When ordering deserts our granddaughter wanted a 99 Ice Cream cone and Grandma had a quiet word with our waitress to see if a candle could be added to the cone to help mark this special occasion.
Despite the fact that they were busy it wasn't a problem and the ice cream cone with flake and lit candle was duly served to beeming smiles all round.
We had a great evening and need to make a special mention of waitress Charlie and give her a really big thankyou from the whole family for looking after us for the evening, arranging the candle and helping to make...
