Follow up from original review below. It seems to have been refurbished and maybe new management but this time they were organised and the food was very good and piping hot. Not very busy which probably helped with the level of service and quality of the food. In current times, the pricing reflects this with soft drinks being massively overpriced. A large pineapple juice with half the glass full of ice at £3.95. That was out of a large carton which could not have cost more than £1. £3.20 for a large coke, again half full with ice. When I say large the glass was about 2 thirds of a pint. Hence 3 stars. Food 4 stars.
Cannot get the simple things right. My family had a meal here recently. Firstly they gave our prebooked table to some other people without checking there name. Simple really. Luckily another table became available. 30 minute wait food with 2 young children was not acceptable but they could have advised us of this, simple to do. When the food arrived, stone cold potato that seemed to have bypassed an oven before serving. Burnt pizza for both children wrong sides for my mum and missing sides altogether. All of these issues with due care and attention could have been simply avoided. NO EXCUSE FOR COLD OR BURNT FOOD. Most of the issues were dealt with eventually and some free desserts offered as a form of compensation. Putting all above aside, the meal was of ok quality and at fairly reasonable prices.
One star may seem mean but it was a family meal to celebrate a special occasion and was well and truly spoilt by issues which could have been...
Read moreYou will see my other review under this one, we thought we would give this place another try as maybe they was just having a off day when we went here before. This time we waited 35 mins for order food (which is not a problem as it is understand when a place is busy) but when it arrived most of the room on the plate was take up with a gravy boat and very dark over cooked Yorkshire pudding, then the rest of the little food on the plate was all stone cold, the mash potato like like a pack mix. To top it off we ordered two portions of the large honey glazed pigs in blankets, the bacon was only just cooked but the sausages were raw!!!! As said in my last review food not worth paying food (some of which sent out raw) . Shame as a really clean place with friendly front of house. Manager did kind give us a full refund as we said we kindly want eat there. Food not worth paying for, if my friends had not been treating me for my birthday I would have complained upon eating the Starters. Me and my partner had the Creamy Garlic Mushrooms. Which was hot Mushrooms floating in lukewarm Garlic soup (Sauce??) One of our friends starter looked like set brown slop which was apparently Wexford Mushrooms which were served lukewarm which he asked to be reheated and it still came back looking the same. All I will say is when the main courses came they looked like they had just been thrown on the plate covered over with a great pile of cold chips wouldn't recommend the...
Read moreFirstly, air-con was broken on the hottest day of the year but in fairness we were offered a cooler but still warm area in the bar. The drinks are EXTREMELY expensive and probably the most expensive within a decent radius. I didn't get anything out of the 4 things that I ordered delivered correctly. I asked during my visit for 3 PINTS of lime and soda - and was served a tumbler every time. I was never corrected, nor told that 'they didn't do pints', but I rarely drink and needed a longer drink - why should that mean I don't get my drinks in big boy glasses! Now comes the food, I ordered the Brinsley Mega Burger - which includes chicken strips and bacon - except it didn't when it came and when I brought it up I was told it was an error on the menu but was still expected to pay the £18 for the burger. YES £18 FOR A BURGER in a pub. Finally, not only were these issues not enough for Brinsley Lodge the poor waiter had no idea what he was serving - literally none whatsoever. We had to look at the plate and best guess before rearranging our plates multiple times! I did say something about the burger, and was offered a drink off the bill - out of beers, gins and lime and soda - guess which they chose to remove? Yep, the £2 lime and soda - so I still paid £16 for a burger that wasn't worth it nor did I get what I asked for! Anywhere else, this'd be false advertising but it seems they are a law unto themselves. I will not be returning it is certainly...
