Drinks were fine. Ordering the food took a little while, but we double-checked that all orders were correct. After quite a long wait, the waitress came and said that none of the starters were available. We asked for chips instead. Then the manager came and explained that they had no vegan buns. The vegetarian explained that she was not vegan. After an hour the food came. The vegetarian was reassured that her burger was vegetarian, she realised that it was chicken and the pregnant lady who had ordered chicken was given the meat free burger. She said no I ordered crispy chicken, so they took it away and brought her another vegan burger but reassured her it was chicken. To be fair they refunded those dishes and offered free pudding but we were too scared to eat there any more. We have been coming to this pub for 23 years at least and had dozens of meals here as a family over the last 17 years. We've always found that food was pretty good. I'm really shocked how far standards have dropped. I can envisage that this may be a one-off and hope that it is not a more widespread malaise which would need a management change.

Great place to eat, was in a rush Sunday went to Miller & Carter steak house (just down the road) but the have a no tracksuit policy that encompasses hats šŸ™„ so went here instead. I was really impressed with the chicken sharing plate, I really can't fault it. The BBQ dip was great, I didn't like the sour cream dip but that's my personal taste not a reflection of the food. The main course of mac & cheese I had was really good as was the cookie dough cheesecake I had for dessert, which looked pretty impressive as it was served, I should of taken the photo before I had a spoon full šŸ˜‚ hopefully my photo has done it justice. Looking around the pub also seemed really family orientated whilst I was there, altho I was just eating with a friend. Would defiantly recommend šŸ™‚

Interior is nice, & similar to a lot of gastropubs. Service isn’t bad, but certainly not great. The wait to order food was so long we approached the waiter to check if we were meant to order at the bar or not. Cheese Burger tasted nice, but buns should be toasted slightly more & served with a bit more class. As you can see from the pictures, the burger doesn’t look amazing & looks quite basic. At Ā£10, it’s pricey for what you get especially compared to real quality burger places that charge the same. If you want to charge Ā£10 a burger, you have to step up the quality.

POOR, POOR, POOR! Unfortunately this establishment seems to have let itself down! Visited numerous times & never received such apalling service as we did last week. We arrived through the back entrance (where the park is) as we intended to sit outside. After looking for a 'clean' table, where nobody has stood all over them with muddy shoes, we realised it was to no avail & made our way inside. Just a heads up guys as a food establishment you should treat all tables the same. Cleaning outside ones aswell as in! Well, what can we say! The expression 'looks like a bomb has gone off' was a pretty accurate description as we entered. As we made our way through to try & find a table we were only met with more dirty tables. All still full of dirty dishes from previous guests. There were even dirty tableware next to the tills (tills stand separately here) & lots of empty glasses around the bar. We ended up sitting ourselves at a dirty table as it was clear we weren't getting one ready cleaned. I approached the bar & asked the staff member (a green haired chap) if he could get our table cleaned when he has 5 mins. He quickly retorted about sitting ourselves & not being sat by staff. I explained I hadn't realised as I've never been sat by staff before in this establishment, but reverted back to the 'cleaning of table' issue... After deliberating the menu (& still waiting for our table to be cleaned, 10 mins have now passed) I went over to the bar & ordered food. We'd asked for a kids ice cream, but got told there was none, so changed it to a fancy milkshake. This was also not possible, however he then proceeded to explain, 'they have ice cream, but non of the toppings etc'. So I asked if they could just do a bowl of ice cream as that was all that was really wanted? The staff member didn't seem overly enthusiastic about doing that & didn't let me know what he would charge for this. He just requested the overall total for our bill! He did however say he'd bring the ice cream straight out... 20mins passed & yes, you guessed it we're still sat at a dirty table & waiting for a bowl of ice cream!! Two members of staff were seen, occasionally moving around, but hardly tending to the 'bomb' of a mess that was across the tables & bar area. They hardly even tendered the bar! We were very much 'left to it' & I couldn't see why? It wasn't busy, it was around 3pm, so we'd missed the lunch rush & nobody had came in after us. It was almost as if the two staff members were running the kitchen aswel as front of house? Across from us were a large family that were just finishing dining as we arrived. They also were swamped with dirty dishes, to the point they had no personal space once their meal was eaten. They'd ordered a round of coffees from their already swamped table just after we'd ordered our ice cream etc. As the staff member took their coffee order he proceeded to walk away from their table empty handed! Not one pot was retrieved from their already overflowing table (we too are still waiting for our table to be cleared & cleaned at this point!). I'm also wondering where this establishment are now getting there clean equipment from to keep serving as the majority seems to be spread across every table in the pub! The lady on the opposite table now starts to stack her own dirty pots to attempt to make space on the table for herself & family! As she does this their coffees arrive!! Filling the little space she created, the staff member slides them onto the table & at this point I overhear the woman ASK for the pots to be cleared!! Also, holding up a bad example of a 'charred' corn on the cob, that was intended for a child, but in her words was 'cremated & not fit for consumption'! The staff member apolgised, cleared half the pots, left & never returned to deal with anything else!! STILL sat at a dirty table (30mins in).I then noted, that our ice cream order still hadn't been dealt with & that the server seemed to of skipped our order & sorted the coffees out instead?! By this point I'd toddled off to try & get some...

Not really sure what was going off.

We went in and didn't really know what to do. Whether you just sat or be seated. So we stood around for about 5 minutes no body said anything so we just sat getting impatient. We sat on a table of 4 because we had push chair. We realised there aren't any menus on the table. So we asked and they got us some. We ordered 2 hot chocolates large fish and chips mushy peas and asked for a side of mint sauce on my peas, and a lasagne.

For saying that none of that takes that long to cook it shouldn't take to long.

Our hot chocolates came straight away. No issues.

Our mains took 43mins as worked it out from my receipt.

I don't know if it was a new guy in the kitchen or short staffed but they wasn't in foh (front of house).

But ok I'll let him off if he was new because we all had to learn sometime. But if he was new/learning why was he left on his own to do it and why wasn't he being supervised or checked on.

It would've of been that bad I can wait. Gives me time to sit and relax with my partner that we don't get that much time to do.

But when the meals come out and the weren't very nice it is disappointing. The fish was massively overcooked the chips were undercooked there wasn't any mint sauce on my peas so I had to ask again for it even when we got our meals we still had to wait for cutlery and sauces.

The lasagne was burnt all around the edge so my partner ate what she could.

We didn't have time to complain as needed to go collect my daughter from school. If it had came out in time it probably wouldn't of been so bad but if it had been we would've had time to say.

This is what these chain pubs are for to go in eat and go out. But if you can't do that then what...

ā€œ STEAK SANDWICH With sautĆ©ed red onion, mature Cheddar, Gouda and Emmental on a rustic ciabatta. Served with rosemary salted skin-on-fries and beef dripping gravyā€ Be very wary , had this last night from the ā€˜new menu’… steak so tuff , full of sinu gristle and impossible to eat.. their reaction when asked if we’d enjoyed our meal? Chef has checked others and they are all okay. When the bill was asked for , they again asked if all was okay, when told no, steak was inedible, manager came. Her reaction? Can’t tell what steak is liked before its cooked, they didn’t cut the steaks from the cow, she’d had it yesterday and it was fine… My plate showed the evidence! What they did? Went away and decided we didn’t have to pay for one dessert… So… if you go for this on the menu , take your own food grinder , as the knife doesn’t cut it and it appears to be the customers fault.

8th May ,I am editing my review now , as the Nursery Man has responded to my first comments

  1. I was not offered a 'fresh meal' …indeed a replacement steak would have secured a happy outcome.
  2. we were NOT offered free puddingS, the manager came over ( when bill requested) AFTER one pudding had been ordered and eaten and she offered to take the cost of 'it' off the bill
  3. asked to 'run through' what had happened made me feel like i had committed an offence... from then I simply wanted to leave...
  4. an explanation on how a 'tough steak' can happen and it is not the chefs fault was...
