I noticed this bakery some weeks ago when I was trying the takeaway next door. I thought it looked interesting so kept it in the back of my mind to give it a try, particularly having noticed it is open on a Sunday (I find it impossible to find fresh bread on a sunday).

Anyway, I just popped in for an olive loaf. The owners were very friendly, helpful and happy to chat which I liked. I got the a warm roll/loaf I was after for a reasonable price - I couldn't wait to get home for warm bread and butter.

The bread did not disappoint. I'm quite a fan of olive bread, but to get it fresh and warm like that is new to me, and it was jam packed it juicy olives. I'm just trying to stop myself eating the rest of it.

Slightly off the beaten track, but well worth the effort to visit, this spacious, friendly and inexpensive Beeston cafe with a Mediterranean atmosphere bakes in-house fantastic bread, light cheese pies, delicious spinach pies and of course a large variety of not-too-sweet but extremely tasty and fresh home-made cakes and pastries, including favourites such as cinnamon-sprinkled bougatsa. Vegan friendly options such as halva and much more are also available. You can order virtually any type of coffee or tea you prefer. If you have a mobility problem do not go here. The floor inside is about 12 inches above the pavement and there are no aids to assist getting int the shop. Parts of the decor is hessian sacking, making it impossible to clean. On one of the seats this covering was so old it had worn through. Hate to think how long ago it was last cleaned. The decor includes old office equipment which is a dirt trap. The shop furniture is old and very difficult to clean. The storeroom is the corridor leading away from the back of the shop and young children (2yrs) were handling what was stored on the open shelving. This place needs a complete revamp before the food...
