I am writing to you today to express my concern regarding your new menu alteration at your Burnley take away store. Needless to say, I am not happy.
It has been tradition since bannys opened in Burnley that my family and I go every single Friday night for our tea. Who doesnât love a chippy tea? It is a wonderful establishment with wonderful food and over the years we have become friendly with the staff. They are delightful and always happy to help, they even know our order off by heart.
One week we were informed that our favourite fish and chip takeaway had now started selling cookie dough and ice cream. I have a sweet tooth and am partial to some warm cookie dough. We took the leap of faith and ordered the cookie dough and ice cream dessert. My family and I fell in love. Head over heels in love. We have ordered it every week since. Whilst sitting in my school lessons, the thought of sinking my teeth in the cookie dough goodness is what got me through my day. For only ÂŁ2 I could forget about my worries and be transported to a world of bliss. Life was good.
Then the darkness came, my world came crashing down right in front of my eyes when our favourite employee uttered the heartbreaking words âwe no longer sell the cookie dough dessertâ. I have no words for how I was feeling. Imagine youâre 6 years old, itâs Christmas morning. You see a big box and itâs addressed to you, from Santa. Itâs looks like the box for the action man, the one youâve wanted for weeks! You open the box, itâs not action man, itâs an empty box, empty like my heart. That is how I felt this particular Friday evening.
We were later informed that the Colne restaurant would be selling the cookie dough ice cream dessert from now on. We had a few issues with this:
The Burnley store is located on route to my grandmas house, which we visit every Friday for a catch up.
The Burnley store has a more relaxed atmosphere which we enjoyed.
The Colne store is rather far away from our residence and more expensive.
My mother and I decided to make the trip to your Colne establishment as we just needed to taste the delicious cookie dough we longed so dearly for. We arrived and were told again âwe donât sell the cookie dough dessertâ. Yet again we were left feeling deflated and saddened.
To conclude, I ever so politely request that you put cookie dough back on the Burnley bannys menu as it would put that sparkle back in my eye. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I dearly hope that it has informed you on how your delightful desserts can help someone through their...
Read moreRIP. Bannyâs has completely fallen off. We have been gracing this place for 10 years as a family and made a special trip to both branches (Colne and Burnley) from Slough and Ealing on our 3 day trip, only to be met with appalling service at the Burnley branch. No menus, dismissive staff, and a shocking lack of basic condimentsâeven after spending ÂŁ45, I did not appreciate blunt snappy answers like I had not just paid for a full table.
My fish had a hair in it, no one looked me in the eyes and gave me an apology, there was just mumbling and running off and the resulting food was oily, hot and unpleasant. The restaurant was also unbearably hot, with no care for customer comfort. My bro had to go out for some air.
This place was once generous and top-tier, they used to smother you in sachets and napkins for free, fish was double the size but itâs now unrecognisable!!!!!! Absolutely not worth the tripâBannyâs has lost its reputation, and we wonât be back. We came on Wednesday afternoon and were shocked; to the rude gentleman who make me feel small for asking about a menu and free ketchup sachets for 4 plates of chips that are smothered unnecessarily in spicy chillies, How dare you sir! You should not be in customer service. You gave us 0 napkins for a big messy meal. You didn't check for hair in my food. You did not ask if we were melting under the sun. You did not apologise that I received my fresh portion as both of my companions had just finished up! You did not care I was on my period and about to undertake a 4 hour drive.
You are a shockingly lazy and bad mannered staff member who dawdled with a face like a slapped ass, giggling with your preferred customers and singlehandedly ruining our experience. We had visited Bannys well over 50 times and this was the last. RIP to a once...
Read moreItâs fine. The food is reasonably good and the service quick. The indoor decor is a pleasant marine or coastal shack style that makes dining-in a pleasant experience. It seems pretty popular and the benches soon filled up after 6pm. I havenât tried the drive-through. I thought the fish seemed rather thin once I cut through the batter. Is it sliced longitudinally?! My only other complaint is that (as last time) the fish and chips seem too oil-soaked. Why is that? Does it mean the oil doesnât get changed as often as it should or could? I donât have the answer but if they could crack that enigma, the custom would pick up rapidly. Iâd certainly be back more regularly. Itâs the one thing that puts me off returning. Despite that little moan, we were served with a smile by a friendly assistant who answered our queries about menu options. We also liked the buzzer system to alert you when your order is ready for collection. It certainly saves hovering around the counter and getting in the way of others - as happens at well-known franchise burger vendors. I notice that Shake Shack employ the same buzzer system. Great idea. All in all, it was worth the visit. But for now, weâll maybe come back once in every blue moon, hoping the chips are...
