Friendship Inn — Restaurant in Bury

Would like to take this opportunity to say ' Thank You' to the Friendship Inn because, a few weeks before a Christmas I emailed a few hotel/restaurants/ some of them big places and close by. I sent the same message to each one asking if it was possible to book in for a Christmas dinner. I was alone and didn’t want to put on any family members. i have recently lost both parents and a brother within two year and my 16 year old dog. The replys I got said “ sorry no, we are full” I was going to give up emailing places because I already felt a bit scared about sitting alone in a place with many people in them having Christmas dinners but then I got a reply from the Friendship Inn, a phone call from a lady she was lovely, she said they would fit me in and make sure I had a lovely Christmas dinner. Aww it just was so nice that they wanted to help me after suffering so much loss and pain, it was nice they said yes you can come, and its okay that you are alone! I was going to pay a deposit but when I told my sister who is older than me what I was doing she told me I must go to hers for Christmas dinner, so I rang the Friendship Inn explained and thanked them. But honest I want to say thank you it was a really kind to say yes to me. Thank you so much for ringing me and just being nice....

I pre-booked a table for 17 guests and arrived at the time I requested to be told that we were half an hour late for our booking and could only have a main meal. I know exactly what time the booking was made for as we were traveling to Keswick that afternoon and knew we wouldn't arrive any earlier and wanted to be able to check in our hotel and freshen up prior to our meal. No email confirmation was sent to confirm the booking as I'd called the establishment to book the table so I had nothing to show the staff the stated time. The food was delicious, home cooked, and very fresh. The service was slow for the drinks being ordered/delivered. Some members of staff appeared rather narky when requesting more drinks to the table. At the end of the meal we requested the bill. The bill arrived with 3 other tables bills on there which then took them nearly 40 minutes to amend. Well where to start. Initially myself and my fiance went in to watch the match. The gentleman that served us was friendly. As it was match day, we struggled to find a seat. Our only option was to stand near the bar and slightly too the left as not to block others view. A man from behind the bar than began to shout at me to move as he said he was try to collect the glasses. I apologised and moved temporarily. A man sat at the bar then offered me a stool near the location. He then began to shout at him. Once we had bought our drinks an uninformed women from behind the bar then began shouting at me to move with the previous gentleman screaming at me. I stood up in front of somebody to finish what I ordered. An older couple and there daughter then came in and stood in the exact spot I was stood and yet nothing was said. I believe there was somewhat some favoritism. As a result at half time, my fiance and I drove 3 miles to visit...
