What is Heaton Park?
Heaton Park is a large park with a wide array of facilities that is located in North Manchester. It is a great place to go to on a beautiful sunny day.
There are multiple walking routes, an animal centre, Tram Museum and Heaton Hall. There is also a Children’s Play Area and a Café.
Heaton Park also hosts a light trail for Christmas each year and it is also the venue for Park Life every summer too.
The Animal Centre
The Animal Centre at Heaton Park was brilliant. They house a wide range of farm animals including Geese, Birds, Pigs, Cows and more. It is in a lovely part of the park with nice views on route there.
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing what they were doing and it was a bonus seeing them up close on a nice hot sunny day.
Children’s Playground
The Children’s playground is great for them to have fun. There are a range of slides, zip lines and swings both for young and old. I love the swings and doing so gave me a moment of nostalgia of what it is like being a kid all over again.
Heaton Hall
Heaton Hall is a historic building giving an insight of Manchester’s history. It is a beautiful building with a number of stairs outside but it was closed.
Tram Museum
Unfortunately the Tram Museum was closed on the day of my visit. It was a shame as I was really looking forward to it. It was not meant to be.
The Park
The park is full of nature with lots of trees and landscapes. There are multiple walking routes with sensational views. My walk was brilliant taking in the scenery. It was peaceful and relaxing taking in my lovely surroundings.
The Lakeside
Heaton Park has a lake where you can hire different boats for a ride. There is also a path to walk alongside too. It is an ideal spot for a picnic on a lovely day. There is also a café where you can sit down, relax and have a bite to eat.
I enjoyed walking near the lake as it reinvigorates you and it gives you a sense of happiness in a great environment.
Entry
Entry to Heaton Park is free for everyone but if you are to do a boat ride then you are required to book it and pay online. For pricing details then check out the website.
Facilities
There were numerous Ice Cream vans as it was a hot sunny day. There are also 4 cafes serving a great selection of sandwiches and hot food including Fries. They also offer a range of hot and cold drinks including Milkshakes. The pricing is mid-range.
Toilets are on site within the cafes.
Parking
Heaton Park has its own designated car park which is pay and display where you are required to pay. However, if you have a Blue Badge then it is free for you.
