Lovely quaint 1300 old building with lots of character. I forgot to take pictures of the food but it was very good. I had the pate with damson gin chutney, plenty of pate, partner had scotch eggs and home made piccalilli, gorgeous, pork pie and peas with separate mint sauce, it was a nice size in a sea of mushy peas very nice, they forgot my extra hand cut chips tho. Partner had steak pie and chips which was large and you could tell it was homemade, big chunks of meat and a lovely pastry topping. A refreshing tapped cider to wash it down. Good prices and friendly staff, it was fine for lunch, by 3pm it started to fill out with reservations ready for the 4 o'clock evening menu, also full of locals which I think is a good sign. Would defo go again if in that area again, we drove that little bit further to go here, we were on the moors and just didn't fancy any of the other pub chains, glad we made the...

We visited as a group of 4 and were quickly shown to our table which was booked for 6.30. We waited a long time to be asked what we would like to drink and even longer time to actually get our food, over an hour. The staff were lovely and it was busy ish for a Tuesday evening but it was a good job we weren't in a rush or very hungry! The food when it arrived was fine, although we did have to send the peas back as they were clap cold. We weren't offered the pudding menu and had to wait a while for the coffees to come. We had an enjoyable evening but probably wouldn't travel the 10 miles to visit again. Just feel there were enough waiting staff on that the service should have been better, they were very pleasant and helpful but lacked leadership...

Went for our lunch on Sunday and had a really lovely time. The food is outstanding - tasty, fresh vegetables, and a selection of gorgeous desserts...(you MUST experience the sticky toffee pudding and custard!!!). We left our plates unashamedly empty and finished with fresh coffee (free refill), brought to our table & poured by a member of staff. The service here was exceptional with attention to detail & food served within a totally acceptable period of time. We felt truly looked after and enjoyed a light-hearted, highly professional and warm atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back!
