The Plaza - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in Cannock Chase

Visited here on a Saturday lunchtime. Got a table and ordered no problem. Food and drink arrived quickly. However upon looking around our surroundings we noticed the dirt, grime and dust around us. From the tables, to the carpets, railings and lamps, all were pretty gross 😝. Just a general lack of attention to cleanliness throughout. When our deserts arrived, they weren't as expected. We ordered the millionaires shortbread, described on the menu as "two vanilla ice cream scoops, shortbread biscuit, belgium chocolate sauce and toffee sauce". When it came, it was ice cream with the sauce on top and a small sprinkle of shortbread crumbs, rather than the 3 layer millionaires shortbread you expect. We went to the bar as this was really disappointing and not as described in the menu. The woman behind the bar proceeded to argue with me when I said that millionaires shortbread is a 3 layer biscuit dessert, not shortbread crumbs. I was very shocked at her attitude and therefore asked for a refund for this and the other dessert, as she was being very rude and argumentative. She refused at first, but then she begrudgingly asked her manager, who did kindly refund me right away without any trouble. Her attitude was terrible and do not think she is suited to a customer facing role. Plates, glasses and cutlery were also not clean and when we pointed out dirty cutlery to the manager, he just said "yeah". As you can imagine we weren't very impressed and would suggest they rethink their bar staff and update the menu to have correct descriptions. You maybe find you order a sandwich here and you get breadcrumbs rather...

I’m no stranger to a cheap and cheerful weatherspoons lunch but today was very disappointing. My partner ordered a January vegan stack burger, I ordered a Tennessee from the gourmet burger menu.

Both burgers were totally dehydrated, the buns were dry, the bacon on the Tennessee was undercooked and stringy! The sauce was far too sugary. The meat was bone dry and flavourless.

My parters meal looked totally underwhelming. She had about 10 chips on her plate. I shared mine with her, I had a healthier portion of chips and onion rings but over all both meals were exceptionally disappointing and not good value for even the low weatherspoons price tag!

Staff were friendly and service was fast and efficient! Just a shame the end product...

We just visited this establishment after a lovely walk over cannock chase, we waited to order food, barmaid asked who was next, young girl said we were next which we were, she ignored her and served another customer, my partner did not say anything but when she walked towards him as if she was gonna serve him but just approached to get a glass off the high shelf and continued to ignore him and serve everyone else would not recommend this place if you are a person that is not white, it was the barmaid working today bank holiday monday, will never recommend this place, although it was done out lovely and customers were chatty to us the barmaid was a disgrace...
