Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Canterbury

I can't rate the drinks because the man taking orders was so rude I just couldn't continue with my order. He was rude to the women in front and I assumed they must of been friends for him to talk to her that way, but then it was my turn. I needed to make sure the first drink I ordered was decaf, due to medication, and that apparently was my first mistake, when asked what size, an answer of medium was unacceptable. I needed to order more and was met with a harsh 'is that it' and a stare to suggest I was inconveniencing him massively. The final straw was when I ordered a caramel milkshake, the same drink I ordered two weeks prior with no issue - they just put it through as a caramel frappe no coffee (which I have ordered previously and they said back 'so a caramel milkshake', so I assumed that was what it was called) A thoroughly unpleasant experience. I came into this coffee shop this morning and usually we are greeted by a really friendly woman. My experience this morning was very disappointing. Every time I spoke the lady cut me off, and when I did speak she made me repeat everything I said. I understand masks have the ability to muffle speech but I feel I was pretty clear every time. I work in a customer facing role with a mask on all the time and never have a problem being understood. I ordered the cinnamon cappuccino, when I got back to my table it had no cinnamon on it, I went back and was told it was optional. The picture shows the cinnamon on the cappuccino on the board and the website. I find it very strange to offer a cinnamon cappuccino and then not finish it with the cinnamon powder or at least be asked. My friend and I met up today for a catch up and we chose Costa for a change as normally prefer Starbucks. Both food and drinks good. Service not so good. Never in my life have I met rude people working in this establishment. No smile, no chat, nothing just rudeness and abrupt responses when we asked questions. I'm glad I had a free drink and reduced food today due to vouchers I had as would have been really annoyed paying full price with service like that. My friend on the other hand paid full price and was really disappointed with poor customer service and we only get out now and again when we can. Didn't spoil our catch up. We won't return.
