Picnic Box Whitstable — Restaurant in Canterbury

I hired the Thames barge Greta for a day's sailing to celebrate my 70th birthday. The Picnic Box was ideally located to provide our on-board lunch. We kicked off with early morning bacon sandwiches served in the South Quay space, and then loaded up our prepared boxes. Our party ranged in age from 4-69, and special boxes were designated for the two children, as well as for those with "healthy appetites". The contents were excellent, particularly the deep-filled sandwiches and pastries.

Liaising, with Allen beforehand was very straightforward. An enquiry concerning the potential presence of nut allergens was answered promptly and reassured us that this important issue was well controlled.

A great plus was to be able to return the packing and utensils (almost all of which seemed to be recyclable) to their unit at the end of our trip.

A regular sandwich pickup spot for me and a number of my friends. The fillings are always great and very generous portions. Lovely bread, spreads. Just totally yummy! Never been disappointed. The staff are really friendly too and they now have a really good Loyalty Card where you can get free drinks and crisps, money off etc with each visit. Great little local business which I would recommend to any Whitstable locals, or those visiting the town. A million times tastier than supermarket bought sandwiches and perfect for beach picnics. The food from Picnic Box is absolutely delicious. The sandwiches are packed full of fresh and flavourful fillings. They have a great selection to choose from, including vegetarian and I can really recommend the sides in particular the olives.
