What a poor experience myself, family and friends endured today. We travel to Whitstable and decided to take our friends to this pub for a few drinks whilst exploring Whitstable Town for the day. We had an unruly welcome once before a few years back from one member of staff an older blond female as we looked at the menu and there was nothing age appropriate to feed our son who at the time who was 1, so we decided to just have a drink and was given attitude as we was told that as we wasn't having food we could no longer sit at the table we was sitting at and was made to feel unwelcomed and rushed.

We thought that going there today standards of staff customer service may have changed however found that the same lady was still working there this time around and still had extremely poor customer service. She gave a shocking welcoming yet again. We stated that we was only there for drink and not food and was made to feel unwelcome as our party OF 10 was having holes burned into us rather than providing a welcoming and happy environment. She kept walking past our table, tutting and giving dirty looks. We had to end our pub visit early as we was standing beside our table talking and the rude lady came over, asked if we was leaving as she already started taking glasses off the table and wiping it down with a cloth making us feel that we was being rushed to leave. Despite the fact that there was loads of empty tables in the food area.

In addition to this the toilets also was disgustingly dirty and needed a clean. There was a extremely strong smell of urine which continued into the area where we was sitting. All we could smell was urine like someone had urinated on the bar floor or the floor was washed with a dirty mop.

The baby change was located right on the enterance of the toilet main door literally.... this provided no privacy for changing a baby as other people would walk into the toilet. You would have to stop changing your baby lift them up fold away the baby change table in order to let them walk past so they could get into to the toilet as there was no space for them to walk past. Another lady was even worried to exit the toilet main door once she had pasted the baby change for the second time of me having to fold it away to let her past (on enternace and exit) incase she opened the main door and exposed my baby being changed to people passing outside the door as the mens toilets are located next to the enterance to the ladies.

One of the dads that came along with his baby was also unable to change his baby as the baby change was only in the female toilet and had to rely on a female in our group to change his baby ( so not serivce user friendly).

Feedback for the owner following our visit:

Maybe you should change the service to a resturant only and not a pub if food has to be ordered or advise that you cannot get a drink only and have to order food!!!!

For hygiene and infection control standards to be maintained, the toilets should be checked and cleaned regularly this will not only keep people safe from spreading germs but also will help to illuminate the horrific smell of urine not only in the toilets but also in the walk way and bar seating area.

The baby change really needs to be relocated as really not private or practical and mum and dads should both have access to change their babies not just to have baby change in womens toilet.

Lastly if you want your pub to uphold a good reputation and to make your customers feel welcome you must look into providing further training on customer service to this particular member of staff. All of the other staff was nice and approachable. Maybe she can take a leaf out of their books. Crazy how one person can create such a negaitive environment and dark atmosphere, we was there as paying customers, I feel for the people that have to work with her...

We went to the restaurant at the quayside Whitstable . I ordered the lasagne .My wife the mushroom beef burger. The lasagne was very greasy and swimming in fat. It was eatable but not especially enjoyable. My wife thought the burger would be m@de using mushrooms but was just a large mushroom in a bun. The pudding menu was extremely limited. Three choices were all they had. Namely Apple crumble, toffee pudding or ice cream. I asked for apple crumble and ice cream .My wife just ice cream . The ice cream was served with a standard crisp rolled biscuit, no sauces. My apple crumble was brown and had a horrible flavour. The crumble too was not nice to eat and had been sprinkled over not part of the original dish. When I complained about the pudding I was told it had been served like this all day so that made my comments irrelevant. So much for customer satisfaction. The disabled loo had two arm chairs , no paper towels and the bin was hidden behind the chairs. I had to use toilet paper to dry my hands and my stick to access the bin. Other users would have been less careful. Needless to say an expensive £41 which I feel it did not deserve. I cannot recommend this pub/restaurant unless you like to be blasted with music and sung to by a lad with more guts than talent . Hence the one star which was generous given the...

The Quayside bar & kitchen is a cut above the usual pub food found along Weymouth quayside. You won’t find fried fish here. Instead you’ll find some thoughtful recipes designed to bring out the exquisite qualities of fresh sea food. I’ll state straight away I’m not a great sea food fan. However there is some fish I like, and it should be noted that this restaurant does have choices for those like me, or indeed for those not liking any sea food. I had salmon pasta and very nice it was too. Another person in my party loves sea food and he absolutely loved his dish. All in all we were very satisfied. There was a minor hiccup in that one dish was meant to come with diced fried potato and not fries, but they’d run out of the former. That was a shame because the person who ordered it specifically wanted to take a break from fries/chips. As I say, this was a minor hiccup. The service was fantastic. The waiter was very helpful. Also he skilfully steered himself around the cringeworthy jokes from an elderly member of our group. He gave 100% and for that I am most appreciative. On leaving the restaurant I recommend that you take in the nice surroundings of the restaurant, with a walk by the water. There are many other pubs in that area, ideal for a...

Our group popped in on a Saturday night, initially we were greeted by a fairly anonymous and quiet venue (think Slug & Lettuce without the charm). However once the live music kicked in it became what felt like the centre of Whitstable’s party scene. Families, drunken lads, energetic millennials, you name it - all here, dancing and having a good time. Beautifully unhinged…..when busy.

Seriously good Fish and Chips (better than the chippy down the road 😬) cooked perfectly, tasty chips and homemade tartar. Great selection of beers and ale on tap and nice friendly, efficient staff. Been here a few times of an evening but not eaten. Other dishes looked nice as well. Of an evening often live music and great crowd of people. A must visit if in whitstable.
