I booked a large table here a few weeks ago for Sunday just gone for a family dinner, pre Panto. We had never been to The Foundry before, being so close to Christmas I didn’t know if they would be able to accommodate us. It’s a family tradition to come to Canterbury each year some of us travelling from Suffolk and we have previously eaten at another local pub. After last year we decided to look for an alternative eatery as they had been less than accommodating. I must say our whole party of 14 were extremely happy with the choice…. Absolutely everything was lovely, the food, the drinks, where we were sat and especially the service and communication from Flo the manager. She had taken the liberty to email me the day before for a preorder so they were prepared for us and didn’t keep us waiting longer than necessary at a busy time. Not only was our order taken but without asking Flo had split the bills into families for us so that made our lives easier at the end of the meal. This was clearly the work of someone who is very well accustomed to large parties and dealing with keeping her customers happy. The Beers and Ciders went down a treat and the food was delicious and well priced. I told Flo at the time, but we will be returning to The Foundry next year and it’s now our new pre panto place 👌🏼😀 Thanks for making our afternoon...
Read moreWe discovered The Foundry pub by accident, looking for somewhere to eat and we stayed on purpose! The service is the first thing that strikes you as excellent in this family owned pub; they all wear a smile and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. There is a variety of dishes to choose from, the food is tasty and reasonably priced, but the main attraction is... the beers!!!!! We have never tasted so many different but equally remarkable beers!!! The highlight definitely is the beer called "Itzamna-nitro", with an abv of 9.6%!!!! The tour is definitely a must; the owner, a lovely man who is more than happy to share his vast knowledge on brewing and distilling was an absolute pleasure to listen to. Before the tour we were offered a drink of our choice, all spirits produced on site, and during the tour we tasted more beers! We initially came in Canterbury for the famous Cathedral, but we ended up staying in the pub until dusk enjoying the homely atmosphere, in a friendly place, learning the brewing and distilling traits along the way. The even more amazing part is that we didn't suffer a hangover whatsoever! If you happen to be in the vicinity the Foundry Brew Pub is certainly a place you can unwind and enjoy a nice drink ...or 2...or 3...

Gin and ale were the main reasons for us to go there. My husband tried the beer tray with five different kinds which was great. I had two gin and tonic and both were very good. The atmosphere of the pub is nice, I really liked the interior design. The staff was very friendly.
So far it would have been five stars if there hadn't been the food.
We were four persons, three of us ordered the burger and asked for it medium. When we got the burgers they weren't only not medium, not even just dry, they were totally burnt and black. The staff was again friendly and took them back, promising us new ones. Unfortunately our friend without the burger had to eat alone now, to avoid his food getting cold. We received some free drinks as compensation and after a while new burgers that were still really, really, really dry but at least not black anymore. The taste was alright but I wouldn't ever recommend the burger. If roasting them medium isn't possible because of any reasons than please just tell the costumer. At least I would appreciate that and order something else!
We would definitively come back for the drinks. So, if you ever look for a nice place with great gin and ales: that's the...
