My partner and I love the Good Shed, however I just really wouldn’t recommend this particular part of the market.
We had a really poor experience getting a coffee here. It took them so long just for two coffees, we were the only customers they had. There was just two of them working but for some reason the young girl was the only one doing anything and the older guy I assume was her boss just stood and watched and chatted to a guy sitting at the bar.
My partner and I both ordered an orange juice as well as our coffee and that was the biggest kick in the teeth. Paying £3+ for one orange juice you expect it to be some kind of freshly squeezed juice or a bottle or something of that sorts - maybe that’s just me. Instead, it was a half pint cup of Sainsbury’s saver’s concentrated juice. I was genuinely embarrassed, watching them poor it in the cups right in front of me I was trying to decide whether I felt bold enough to tell them we don’t want that - I wasn’t. (context: there is a Sainsbury’s local two minutes down the road from this venue so if that’s what I wanted I could have gotten a good 4 cartons of juice for the money i paid for their small cups).
Adding insult to injury they didn’t have enough juice left to fill two cups, so the young girl bless her heart was rushing about looking for something to fix the issue and the two of them bickered amongst themselves about the fact they had no orange juice left. Eventually the boss arrogantly “saved the day” by pulling an orange out of the fridge and proceeded to squeeze it into the cup.. so i guess i got the freshly squeezed juice i had in mind..
The result was a 2/3 cup of Sainsbury’s own and a 1/2 cup of Sainsbury’s own with a side of freshly squeezed.
I don’t complain or make a fuss but after watching this all play out for what was a good 15-20 minutes or more I was anticipating some kind of refund or good will gesture but I was simply sheepishly handed the drinks by the young girl and sent on my way. I smiled and said my thank yous of course she’s just doing her job. Of course I could have complained but I decided to just laugh it off with my partner over our coffees as I was genuinely quite baffled by the experience.
I’m sure there are many redeeming factors about this restaurant / cafe - I just wanted to take the time to share this as it is one of those experiences that just gnaws at me.
I’m not one to leave a bad review and I had definitely thought to just leave it be but it just doesn’t feel fair to be so blatantly ripped off. If I knew in advance I wouldn’t have bothered trying this place - so hopefully I can recommend that if you’re thinking of going to the Good Shed for coffee just keep it simple and...
Read moreVery disappointed with this establishment, knowing now busy the last Saturday before Christmas would be I decided to plan ahead and book a lunchtime slot using their online portal, how wrong was I. Having arriving 10mins beforehand my booking time I went to the bar to let the team know we’d arrived, I was informed that they didn’t have a record of my booking and that their booking system wasn’t reliable. With no apologies or alternative being offered we left and ate somewhere else.
Unfortunately I can not directly respond to the owners message, however I can confirm I went to the wild goose in the good shed, I saw the 2 spaces that were reserved, which is why I approached your bar staff to let them know we’d arrived, it’s a shame you are focusing on what you missed out on rather than recognising on the failure of your online booking system, yes it’s a shame your team couldn’t find our booking on their app and we waited for another 20mins to see if we could get in, in the end we felt let down with your process and the lack of any apology for not having my booking, believe me the frustration you felt regarding holding 2 seats for a booking was mirrored by myself and my wife for travelling down to your restaurant looking at 2 seats and being told they are reserved even though we had a booking. Still the Refactory Kitchen was an...
Read more5 staff but still had to wait for 20 minutes to get a drink as only one was able to do cold drinks. Lady did say she would be a minute so a little taken back that it turned into 20. Watched other staff, check their phones . Watched food being cooked and was amazed at how one kitchen tool could be used for so many things, picking up cleaning clothes and well as serving food along with mixing food. Glasses with ice can be provided if you ask for them. It was 2.30pm on a Sunday and they were clearing up to close at 4 pm, so must have been a busy afternoon, and they all wanted to get home. Not sure I will rush back to see if things have improved ...
