The Plough — Restaurant in Charnwood

I'm not going to lie to you. My relatives live in East Goscote and its really the only time I've ever been in the place. Twenty years ago to be honest whilst the beer was ok then it was a bit of a dump. That said I've been in today to celebrate the life of one of those relatives. I was very impressed with the decor. The pub looks lovely. Lots of food and drink deals. And the beer prices were normal. £3.20 to £3.60ish. obviously is suspect other drink were more costly but I hope you catch my drift. Today was certainly the best I've ever seen it. And yes I will return and try the food next time. I'll let you know how I get on. But the estate finally has a pub again that's visit worthy. ...

So we booked for Sunday dinner, just the 2 of us. The reviews were good, we booked our table and we were looking forward to it. We were shown to our table by the friendly staff and then just left. Other tables afer ours came in and were sat and served but we seemed to be ignored, I asked about the wait and was told that they serve all the larger tables first!! This ment that we were left waiting for our dinner. I spoke to the manager he explained they were short staffed, but we were still left waiting for well over an hour, almost an hour and half. The dinner arrived, it was OK just not very warm an the beef was chewey. If you do go there...

Pub looks & feels better than it's done in years....Well overdue!! The food's great & the service is too. The bar staff are really nice & friendly....On the negative side the outside of the pub needs clearing up somewhat as there's weeds growing from between most of the uneven slabs on the front & have overgrown in the borders underneath the trees that so desperately need cutting back, the Landlord seems really unfriendly to the point of being grumpy...Find another job if you hate this one so much mate!! Don't let the negatives put you off though, it's a good pub that needs the community to get behind it....USE IT...
