We ate at the waterside for our friends Birthday. Booked the table in advance. Upon arrival the staff greeted us and showed us to our table, very friendly and asked if we wanted to order drinks which we did, the server asked if we were ready to order, The menu is extensive, we had already chosen online and wanted to try Their famous Carvery, one vegetarian with sweet potato pie and vegetarian gravy, one standard and one large meat carvery. The chef was very friendly and chatty, we all said we have never seen a carvery where everything looked perfect. The meat we had was Beef and Turkey we didn't try the Gammon, I paid the couple of pounds more for extra meat and extra Yorkshire pud. Roast potatoes, Cheese and plain mash, carrots, Broccoli, cauliflower cheese, leeks, peas, Parsnips, Stuffing balls. Gravy, condiments. The meats melted in your mouth and all the veg was cooked to perfection, no rock hard and none overdone. Yorkshire's and stuffing were both delicious. The staff were very attentive checking everything was good. Without a doubt I would say it was the best quality carvery I have ever eaten, we all rated it very highly. The server took away the plates and asked if we wanted the desert menu, we had one between my wife and I, Lemon meringue roulade and our friend had cherry Bakewell pudding and they both were delicious. From what we witnessed today the pub is very busy, I would recommend booking and if you are ok eating early the pub opens at 12, we were first In and within minutes it was quite full. I can't praise The waterside enough, Great friendly and attentive staff, Excellent Food, lovely ambience and a great setting for summer outside by the river and locks. Thank you all so much for a lovely meal for our friends Birthday. We will be seeing...
Read moreHad a little trot out to mountsorrel today to check out the waterside inn after hearing great things through the grapevine about this place! On arrival the place was absolutely heaving and the main car park was full so we ended up parking in the overspill on the grass. The weather was beautiful today and we managed to find a table outside next to the picturesque river soar. There is a pop up bar outside so we ordered here and I went with the ode pint of pepsi and jumbo cod which came with mushy peas and tartar sauce. Food came within 10 mins which considering how busy the place was, was exceptional service and the food was very tasty indeed. The outside seating by the river is obviously a great pull for this place especially when the weather is good however it obviously hasn't been changed much from the days of covid and social distancing which definitely needs sorting out. Unfortunately as we all know covid is here to stay for good and the seating arrangements outside brings back memories from the early days of covid! Didn't get chance to check inside the pub or the toilets so can't comment on them today, but overall...
Read moreWe have come here before a couple of times and had no problems. But on this occasion we had to leave a review to highlight the issues with the service we received. We were told straight away that we had the table for an hour, which we was not expecting as was not mentioned when I called twice ( first to book and the to add a couple extra people as my mother who I rarely see was down for the weekend for our wedding anniversary). Our waitress a lady in glasses and a green top came to ask for drinks. It was apparent the waitress was maybe stressed or something as there was no smile and short answers. We had our meal and had 3 waitresses ask if our meal was ok but nobody asked if we wanted another drink and after our plates were collected was not asked if we wanted a desert. We bought these issues up with the original waitress who said with clear attitude "well do you want a pudding?". We was offered no alternative table to finish our time at the waterside, or apology. We felt like the waitress just wanted us to leave quickly just to get the next people in. So we left. Decent food...
