Went with four family members on a somewhat busy but not manic Saturday, we reserved a table for four and where seated at a small and cramped table that was clearly meant for two adults and even one small child.
After asking a waiter about the issue of the small, cramped and uncomfortable table we was told he would get back to us as he had his hands full. We understood so we gave him 5 minutes to sort everything out and come and address the situation, he never came back to us after walking directly past us numerous times.
we then contacted the Manager which then refused that the table was too small and insisted it was for four people as well as telling us that the table we was sitting at was the only size table they had. A family member then pointed out a table suitable for four people which was laid out for four people and was not cramped against the wall or other tables.
After the manager walked away she then told her waiter to 'just deal with them' which came away very rude as she didn't even bother to walk out of ear shot. We then got another table that was actually suited for four people instead of two however they decided to seat us in a far away corner which i wouldn't mind if we didn't pass about five suitable tables to get to that had no clear reserved sign.
then getting to the food which is usually brilliant however this time half the vegetables and sauces where not even there and they was no sign of them being filled up any time soon even when we was waiting in line for 10 minutes.
After all the rudeness we encountered we thought it could not possibly get any worse the machine associated with their bottomless drink option on the menu broke and we was informed that the gas for the machine had to be changed. We was offered a drink free of charge from the bar however they could only offer three different drinks.
after the situation we even fount out that they didn't even have a basic tool such as a spanner to fix the easy issue and resorted to asking a gentlemen who pulled up in the car park in a van for any tools they could use.
All in all a dreadful experience especially when we have been a few times, it seems this new Manager has no idea what she is doing with the business or with the customers she helps serve.
We will definitely not be coming back to the restaurant as they is so many business's out there that will other better services to their customers every time...

When ordering, I requested a baby bowl and was told only small plates were available near the serving area, which I accepted as this isn’t normally an issue as it’s charged at £0.99. We last paid this back at Christmas.
We've visited this branch more times than I can count, this time using a 50% off mains voucher. I went to the till to pay, as the staff are often too busy to bring the bill to the table. However, I was presented with a receipt that charged me for three adult meals, despite only two adults being at the table. I questioned this and, after a brief back-and-forth, the waiter corrected it to two adult meals and one child meal. At this point, I had not been informed that the baby bowl, which I always order, was actually charged as a kids meal at £6.49. When I raised this with the same colleague, I was told that baby bowls were only available to Groupon voucher holders and during Sunday hours.
This isn’t accurate, as the website still lists them as available. The waiter also mentioned that I could have asked for a kids' ice cream (which was never offered). In the end I paid for 2 adult meals and 1 child meal which cost more than 3 adult meals with 50% voucher.
With no senior staff present and two small children growing increasingly frustrated from the wait, the waiter told me to take the receipt and pay at the bar. However, there were over ten people in the queue at the bar, so I returned to the original till to pay, facing yet another inconvenience.
There have been several new staff hired recently, and they could benefit from additional training, as these issues could have been avoided just by actually checking the ages of the children and plates ordered.
Moral of the story, check your receipts as staff clearly lack training. Toby management please train your staff on current offers, this is likely a reason why customers do not return regularly.
I did email this information directly but yet to receive a response, hence this warning for...
Read moreOur table was booked for 2oclock. We were not actually seated until 2.10pm then we were asked if we wanted some extra pigs in blankets with our carvery. We agreed to the extra pigs in blankets but did not expect them to be brought to our table with our drinks. As there was a huge queue at the carvery hot plate, the pigs in blankets were completely cold once we had queued for 20 minutes for our meal.
We returned to our table at 2.40pm with our meals. After finishing our meal the waitress bought our bill straight to our table. We did not even have an opportunity to order a dessert. Luckily nobody on our table wanted a dessert so we paid the bill and continued to drink our drinks. Ten minutes later (at 3.05pm) the waitress came and asked us to finish our drinks as another family were waiting for our table. We all had drinks left, my glass in particular was three quarters full. I pointed out to the waitress that we had only been in the restaurant an hour and only had been sat at our table for 55 minutes. I asked her how long we get at our table and she replied with only an hour on a Sunday. If this is the case, I feel that Toby Carvery need to review this policy. I asked the waitress if we could move to the bar area to finish our drinks but she said no because there were no tables available anywhere so we had no choice but to leave. I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant. The customer service was terrible and the attitude of the staff was not acceptable. It seemed that they just wanted to get as many people fed and moved on as quickly as possible. Not the kind of service I want to give my hard earned money too! Going for a sunday lunch should not feel like such a rush and we most certainly should not be in and out in 55 minutes. This was supposed to be a catch up with friends where we could enjoy a lovely 2-3 course meal followed by a few drinks together. We will never recommend such a...
