Belsteads — Restaurant in Chelmsford

Have you visited the beautiful little gem at channels estate hotel? It’s called Belsteads Coffee Shop, a beautiful little cafe serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a gorgeous setting with exposed beams and the friendliest of staff.

We were recently invited to try out their lunchtime offering and loved every minute!

The staff were lovely from the moment we entered and very attentive throughout. We later found out they make most of their cakes in house, with one of the ladies working being responsible for one of the best brownies ever!

It wasn’t quite cold enough for soup and a sandwich but I had to try it. Butternut squash and sweet potato soup, a thick and creamy served with 2 wedges of fresh fresh bread! The taste just popped, you could taste it had probably only been made that day! The soup was served with my chosen cheese and ham toastie. Again fresh granary bread toasted with high quality cheese and ham.

For Mrs foodmunkey was the salmon and cream cheese bagel. A beautiful fresh bagel steeped in cream cheese and a beautiful layering of the finest smoked salmon.

To finish my wife had to have a fresh brownie, I just couldn’t fit anything else in. The brownie was to die for! So moist and chocolatey! Not sure how she chose to be honest they’d range of cakes are phenomenal all freshly baked in house!

I’m dying to go back for breakfast if the lunch tastes this good!

I can only encourage you to follow them and pay them a visit, even if just for a coffee and cake. It’s a beautiful place just to relax with a few chapters of a book to disconnect...

I went in to coffee shop this morning and it was really busy, the staff tried to accommodate everyone as best they can. The food does take a while whilst it's busy as everything freshly cooked to order so it was worth the wait, must say it was delicious. Lovely refreshments, very tasty freshly baked cakes. The staff are always polite. Building is lovely and warm and cosy, suitable for all ages. Being a fairly new establishment it was really lovely to see it so busy. I visit here regularly and never...
