A fantastic evening at Miller and Carter. To be honest the first time I have eaten at a Miller and Carter and I was expecting it to be disappointing as brands often sacrifice experience for speed of service, serve them quick and make serve more people to make more profit. I would however say the service was actually borderline slow! I couldn't conclude if it was too slow or if it was just an opportunity for customers to enjoy the atmosphere, good food and each others company. The food was lovely, we had burgers (a sin in such a place I know) but the steak on my burger was cooked perfectly to choice. The burger dressing was sooo flavoursome on both burgers and the fries and coleslaw were satisfactory if a little small portion wise. To finish we had the fudge cake to share and this is where the night came alive for me. The waitress was new and she almost had it fall of the plate it was so large and unstable! There was plenty for 3 or 4 to share but 2 of us finished it nicely. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would return. Is it as special as a independent steakhouse could be, i am undecided, but it delivers where it needs to!

Terrible experience at Miller & Carter! We had a reservation for 6 people at 9:00 PM and paid a £60 deposit, yet when we arrived, a waitress (who claimed to be the manager but refused to give her name when asked) told us our table wasn’t ready and that we needed to wait. I do my research and her name is Terry. After waiting for 45 minutes, I approached her again, only to see that she was seating smaller groups while completely ignoring our booking. When I confronted her about this unacceptable situation, she had the audacity to tell me that I was wasting her time and preventing her from doing her job! The level of rudeness and unprofessionalism was beyond belief. We decided to leave because she said that it’s impossible to give us table and many people are waiting as well for their reservation. I said that we have kids with us and she said “ your kid is 4 years old is bigger than other customers who have babies. Terry was disgusted. Absolutely disgraceful service—I would never return or recommend this place to anyone!

Short version: The food here is simply gorgeous. An unexpected find in Banbury. Great ambience and service. Wanted to try almost everything off the menu, almost did. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend. Even the cocktails served were brilliant. Long version: There is a sign about a semi formal dress code (dress to impress) but it’s not enforced. Spotted a lot of diners in casual attire. The menu is mouthwatering. For starters, I recommend the baked camembert, sticky chicken and Mac & cheese. The scallops were alright. The spare ribs were the most disappointing of the lot. For mains, I loved the rack of lamb, especially the dauphinose potatoes served with it. For the steaks I’d recommend the peppercorn sauce, the bourdelaise sauce is nice too. For desserts, I’d recommend the crème brûlée. Divine! The mango bomb was a tad too sweet and tangy, a tad disappointing. The brownie is alright. Stick to the crème brûlée and thank me later. Will be returning for another experience here!

We have dined at miller and carter (Liverpool docks) and couldn't fault the food ( butchers block) or service. It was a very memorable meal and evening and have recommended the chain and looked forward to dining again. We booked and dined with our daughter and partner for my husbands upcoming birthday. We chose the cote de beouf and the waitress had asked how we wanted it cooked so we said rare and the order was taken along with a butchers block for my daughter and partner also rare. Our boards came and myself and my husband found the majority of the steak inedible and were hugely disappointed after looking forward to our meal and telling so many how great the steak was. We mentioned to our waitress when she cleared the table how disappointed we were and she said it should be cooked more to render the fat.... if this is the case and it should be cooked more then this should be pointed out when ordered, but it definitely wasn't just fat, the waitress said she would show the chef.... she never came back to us with any feedback and thats dreadful customer service. We weren't rude or nasty when we said it was disappointing so i feel hugely dissatisfied. If we hadn't been dinning with my daughter and her partner i would have been more verbal. To top the evening off we paid our bill in cash with an overpayment and wasnt offered our change which we wouldn't have accepted but thats not the point. I have always believed its not a problem if things arent ok with what you buy but if they aren't ok then the customer service should be great and if it is i would definitely return/recommend etc..... on this occasion the customer service was none existent and i wont be returning to...

The food as always is absolutely delicious. The quality is always really good.

However, we are finding that the service is a bit hit and miss lately. The last time we were there, we waited 15 mins for our order to be taken and eventually a server from another section took our order. She was absolutely lovely and the food arrived really quickly, even though it was busy.

Tonight however we were disappointed. We arrived at 18.30 and waited for ages to be taken to our table as front of house was deserted. We ordered our food but the starter was not what we ordered. We waited again for our mains to arrive, around 40 mins. We asked our server to find out where it was, he went to the kitchen and then vanished. Eventually our dinner arrived but they didn't bring my chips and then when they did, they bought the wrong order. If it always took a long time for food to arrive, we would expect it but sometimes when we go it arrives really quickly and sometimes it doesn't. It wasn't very busy but it looked like they were short on servers, which may be the reason for the delays but we didn't receive any update on when our food would arrive, nor did we get any apology which would have helped. Its a shame because we love the food but the service is...

Booked a table on Saturday night - Great welcome and shown to our table. We ordered drinks while we perused the menu.

I ordered the scallops and 8oz fillet (medium-well) and my husband ordered the Chipotle Chicken and 16oz Ribeye (rare). Firstly, for £11.95 I expected more the 'two tiny scallops'.

Secondly, after one bite I realised my fillet steak was cooked rare. I asked for it to be returned to the Kitchen and cooked some more. I waited ages and was hungry, so I ate the chips and the lettuce wedge.

When the steak came back, it was a brand new steak but still cooked exactly the same. I was too embarrassed to send it back a second time. I ate the outside of it and left the rest.

Slowly, one by one, I noticed several other people sending their food back to the kitchen too. Our waiter informed me that there was a new chef working.

My husbands meal was fine and the general table service was good but I left very unhappy with my expensive experience. Then to add insult to injury, as soon as I got home a few minutes later, I had to urgently rush to the toilet !!! Not good.

When I discussed this with my colleagues at work on Monday morning, two of them separately said they had to send food back last week too. All in all, an...
