Worst McDonaldâs in the area! Hopefully the Chesterfield McDonaldâs near the cinema will be re-opening soon so we donât have to go here again!
As a general manager in a pub, I can say that Stephen the shift manager is not competent in the role he has been given. My partner (a former McDonalds Customer Experience Leader) and I came during a quiet period at the store after a very long day at work. We had a voucher for money off and weâre served by Stephen. He scanned the code which at first didnât work so he input it manually. I thought Iâd seen the the total on the card reader show the amount before the price reduction was added. After paying I asked Stephen for reassurance that the correct amount had been charged. He reassured it had. Whilst waiting for our meal to be prepared, upon checking, it showed that the amount without the discount had been taken out of my bank account. I told the person at the collection window that I would like a refund of the ÂŁ3 that the discount was for. Something that should have been a simple task. I was told to reverse back to the previous window, which I did, and Stephen offered to do the refund. He gave me a refund but not for the ÂŁ3, for the whole meal. I wasnât sure at first if this was for the inconvenience. I went back to the collection window and Stephen came to that window. I queried with him about the refund of the full amount and he told me there was no way he could refund the ÂŁ3 and even after I had used my money off voucher was told that I could reorder the food but pay the full price. Iâd now lost my voucher to which Stephenâs response was that I needed to phone customer services. All this time, our food had already been prepared and was in a bag on the side. I said to Stephen that I wasnât refusing to pay but wasnât paying more than I was initially told when I was overcharged. In the end, I lost my one time use only voucher, went away without the food and a bag of perfectly good food that I had ordered either went to work or was eaten by the staff. The funny thing is that when I queried what would happen to the food when he refused to sell it to us that a member of staff took the food and hid it round the corner.
The shift manager told us that the store manager, Brandon, would be available to speak to tomorrow. Letâs hope heâs not as useless. Judging by some of the previous reviews though, I donât...
Read moreI visited McDonaldâs Duckmanton around 18:30â19:00, and once again witnessed shocking disrespect towards delivery drivers. The attitude didnât just come from regular staff but from someone who appeared to be in supervisory uniform (white) along with an older lady in a hi-vis jacket who takes food to the car park. They spoke to delivery partners with no courtesy whatsoever, ordering drivers to âstand on the sideâ like we were an inconvenience instead of part of the service operation.
Someone wearing a white supervisor uniform should be setting standards, not lowering them. But the attitude shown was arrogant and dismissive. If leadership behaves this way, it explains why the general staff copy the same behaviour. Delivery drivers are not strangers hanging around; we are official McDonaldâs delivery partners, helping to bring in orders and profit to the branch by delivering to customers on McDonaldâs behalf.
What your staff clearly forget is simple: one minute Iâm a delivery driver â the next minute I could be a paying customer walking in like anyone else. Respect should not change depending on whether someone is holding a delivery bag or placing a dine-in order.
Itâs also hard to ignore the fact that many delivery drivers come from ethnic minority backgrounds, and the casual way they are spoken to raises serious concerns. Everyone deserves dignity, regardless of background or role.
To make things clear, McDonaldâs Alma Park in Chesterfield treats delivery partners properly â with manners, acknowledgement, and basic courtesy. If one branch can show respect, there is no reason Duckmanton should operate with such a poor attitude.
Yes, the store gets busy â but being under pressure is not a licence to forget hospitality or speak down to people. If delivery partners are considered part of McDonaldâs service network, then staff and supervisors at Duckmanton need urgent training on how to treat them accordingly. I am ready to identify the said...
Read moreSlightly more expensive than your typical McDonalds (as it's adjacent to the M1), but not as expensive as some of the McDonalds' you find at dedicated motorway service stations.
This is our preferred "toilet stop" en-route up North from Derby (to Yorkshire), with my two-year-old and three-year-old.
On a weekday, you'll typically find businessmen and women, stopping by, or even holding meetings in the restaurant itself - the latter of which, is a little annoying. Nevertheless, it's never too busy and generally relaxed.
At the weekend, it's a complete contrast. Nearly always rammed and often difficult to find a table indoors. Not as much of an issue in Summer though, as there is plenty of outdoor seating.
Nevertheless, the cleaning staff here work their socks off. It's a rarity you come across a table that isn't clean - even during those busier periods around lunchtime, at the weekend, for example.
For the prominence of this restaurant (next to the M1), there are far too few bays for parking at McDonald's itself. There are other car parks adjacent, belonging to the likes of Starbucks and KFC, but park there at your own risk if McDonald's car park is full.
It's worth adding that the range of services offered at Markham Vale / Duckmanton makes for a great place to stop. Much easier to access from the Northbound side of the M1, but still accessible from the...
