Firstly, and I can’t understate this…. The Food was really good!

The only issue really was that you buy everything individually. So my smokie stack burger was Ā£14. Then you have to purchase dirty chips separately Ā£6. So for burger and chips Ā£21 , which now makes it expensive. Add a drink on top and a side your looking at Ā£30 per person for one course. Also no children’s menu. I spent Ā£60. No starters or deserts and soft drinks. Realistically if your going out your going to be spending average Ā£100 plus for the full experience for 2. A bit much I think, given I can go for a really good pub grub meal burger, fries and slaw and a nice pint with two adults and one child ( thanks to the kids menu) with either starters or desert for approx Ā£60.

Atmosphere was not so great, we sat in the front so with all of those people coming in for their takeaway, And staff stood around chatting, we felt a bit in the way. This may have been a better atmosphere had we been allocated seating elsewhere.

Service was, take your order, bring your food. Nothing to write home about, but didn’t help where we were sat as explained earlier.

Ow and the table was unstable as well. Had one of those bitty clenching moments when the table nearly collapsed with all the drinks on it, because the edge was lent on.

Final note…. This would prob be a really good takeaway for those special occasions.

Final final note…. The food really was very very good, so much of the above can be forgiven because of the food experience, we left full.

Tip….. order one lot of fries to share. You won’t need one each, they will just...

Booked a table here for 18:00 on a Saturday for my friends birthday. While the food was lovely, unfortunately the hospitality was not. We ordered mains (No starters) and a bottle of wine to share. Once we had finished our main a waiter took away our plates and quickly after, a lady came to our table requesting for us to pay. No mention of ā€œWould you like to see our dessert menu?ā€ No offer at all. Soon after we had paid, my friend had finished her glass of wine but I did still have some left. The same lady then came over, took away my friends glass and the empty bottle.. knowing I still had some wine left in my glass, saying ā€œCan I take these… it’s just we have someone waiting!ā€ Never have we been made to feel so rushed and unwelcome before when visiting a restaurant. I understand that there will be tables booked after us as we had booked early (18:00) but in no way did we outstay our welcome which should be given. If you want to give your customers only 1 hour to eat up and leave when booking an early evening table you need to express this information at the time of booking so we are aware and have the opportunity to cancel and book elsewhere where we won’t be so rushed. What makes this worse is that a letter was actually sent also directly to Smokies expressing the dissapointment of the experience received and this was totally ignored. No acknowledgement what so ever which I feel is hugely rude and ignorant. As mentioned, the food was lovely but the hospitality really needs to be improved in order to...

I appreciated the theme and decor, and the staff were all very pleasant; it was quiet so we were spoiled by 3 staff members throughout our visit who genuinely seemed eager to please.

The food seemed a little on the expensive side though, and decidedly average, I'm sorry to say. I couldn't say anything was particularly wrong with it; it was all cooked well, but was just lacking something, which, given the price-tag, was somewhat disappointing. Their coleslaw was really nice though, I thought.

When we came to order dessert, we were told that we couldn't have any as the kitchen was now closed. The staff claimed that this was stated at time of booking, but I saw the booking, which was done over Facebook, and nothing was mentioned. I've been in places at time of kitchen-closure before, and in my experience, it is common practice to continue to serve diners that start their meal before the kitchen closes, to enable them to complete their meal. It wouldn't have been so bad if they had told us in advance that it was closing.

This is my second underwhelming meal here, the first being over eighteen months ago. I was really hoping that I would have enjoyed it more, this...

Good ambience, liked the theme of the restaurant, staff were knowledgeable, polite and efficient. Good range of food on the menu and it was all served really quickly without much of a wait between courses. The prices are not cheap, but quite frankly you get what you pay for. Everything tasted handmade and of good quality and the portions are generous. There was not much vegetarian food on the menu, but I expected that, "smokies" naturally infers BBQ and meats. I apprehensively chose the only non-meat main course which wasn't really that descriptive nor did it sound particularly appealing but I was pleasantly surprised. My husband was impressed with his meat loving option and I enjoyed my wrap, I did experience a crunch midway through that I wasn't expecting and found some chips in it. I actually thought this was a really good touch, as it contrasted with the texture of the wrap and rest of the filling. Fab churros too 😊 would recommend.

Adore this place. Great food well prepared and presented. Hosts are knowledgeable about the history of the building they're in which shows a genuine interest in the town. Been several times now and tried different menu choices and not on been disappointed, well - Except not quite managing to finish a meal on one occasion (they let you take the rest in a takeaway box if you can't finish).

Absolutely loved it. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth booking a table especially if you're going at the weekends. It's not an extensive menu, but there's so much meat. I would definitely recommend this place. Family friendly too and there's things on the menu for most. Plus the friendly staff are more than happy to ensure your order is cooked to your requirement
