What a lovely park, really nice feel to it. Beautiful fountain and the Hall is nice to view. Didn't try the Cafe but seemed very busy when we were there. The children's play area is well catered for, plenty of bits to keep little ones busy and tire them out or try to! The small animal building is a nice feature, have some nice animals in it that some children have never seen before, so a good learning opportunity there for the little ones. It is small, 10 to 15 mins is all you'd need to walk around the animal part. It's nice to take kids, even dogs. A lot of the park shows signs to keep dogs on leads, sone areas are quiet and you can let your dogs off for a sniff around, however they must be on leads generally by the fountain, Hall and children's areas. No dogs allowed up near the animal building so if you have a dog with you, you'll have to leave it with someone outside or tie it up. The animal house is child and disabled friendly, a great ramp for wheelchairs and also prams alike. Plenty of litter you for dog eggs and your litter. Have been a few times now and enjoyed it both times. Would mark it with full stars but do feel a few extra disabled spaces and parent and child spaces would make it even better. The carpark we used was the free one called Hall Gate. Very busy park when weather nice, so expect a lot of dogs. We saw easily over 20 dogs while visiting. Most dogs were nice with owners saying hello, but as with anywhere you'll find a few not so nice ones. While there, thier was someone with 2 dogs who was sat outside the Cafe with his digs, quite a nice sitting area. Sadly everytine a dog was spotted by his dogs, they would go into aggressive mode, very loud and untrained. This didn't bother us as we walked around and avoided him and his dogs, this does not affect the parks score of course, just an observation. Recommended park for sure.

Astley Hall and park is a lovely place especially when the weather is fair. I have been a number of times over the years but this is my first review. The hall its self has recently been restored. Its a great place to visit and get a feel of life through the 15, 16 and 1700s and beyond. The artifacts, decor, atmosphere and information are great Both interesting and educational, best of all its free. I do recomend making a donation if you can afford it to help keep this attraction going. The grounds also have some great outdoor space especially if you have children. A flower garden and alotment area is a pleasant space to be in and a the small lake is home to some lovely wildlife, like ducks, grease and at the time of this publication a nesting swam with 6 eggs. The field space in the grounds is vast, housing a football pitch but also plenty of space to play, relax and picnic in. Some benches are also available for picnics. The grounds also has a good forested area for walking or an adventure for the active mind of a child. A park and animal petting area will help keep the kids entertained. The site has a cafe that can get very busy. I haven't yet sampled the food but it looked very good. I will leave a review at a later date. All in all this is defiantly a great afternoon out if you have children, the weather's good and you like outdoor spaces. Free parking is available but it can get busy at times. An added bonus unknown to many. Near by is an ancient burial ground. I am not revealing the location but I want to hear from the people who have located it. Pictures would be good. 😀

A walk from entrance near cenotaph on to play areas near Pets corner, then after a brief rest and a drink we moved on to Astley Hall. We tried out the cafe, which was lovely. The food was very tasty and I would love to go again. We used rest rooms which were clean and fresh. My only concern was the lack of adequate signage to say where they were and how to access them. Also how to enter and activate the lift to another floor to access main toilets. The disabled toilet on ground floor was locked and we had forgotten to carry our key to it so we had to manoeuvre ourselves to the others. N.B. My blind husband could not have a) found the toilets or b)used the lift without my assistance. We also found a display on mines upstairs which was very informative but we saw no advertisement of this and had we not gone up for toilets access we would not have found it. We made our way round to the lake after this and enjoyed watching the wildlife at play for a while before returning through the Park. There were lots of well behaved dogs both on and off lead on our walk but the owners I saw were well behaved and cleared up after their dogs, for which the Park had provided frequent bins. We loved the steady walk, the fresh air, the frequency of seats to rest on route. Certainly a place to go again and again.

Phenomenal gorgeous space, went to Chorley Flower Show opening today, plenty to see, buy, the gorgeous flower displays and gardens and Gold award winning displays, and talks on plants and how to grow them and Q and A session from the audience. Plus the pop up Gin bar on the green with big outside, set up to show the Olympics live over the 3 days. Then the wonderful free entertainment area with outside bar outside plus massive marquee inside it a massive stage for entertainment later on or if slightly inclement weather surrounded by differing catering vans selling fish n chips to kebabs, pizza, Greek amongst many more, the smells were amazing, came nicely with my few glasses of wine came a real time. Lots of free things for the kids to do face painting, crochet, giant connect 4, noughts and crosses, hook a bottle, knock the cans down with balls, the bell ringing machine going round twisting metal without touching it yes all free, a ferris wheel for only £2 a child and even adult, very very family friendly and inexpensive to the parents in cost of living crisis, saw loads of families there so something for mum dad grama grandad to come and see the show and loads for the kids to do and not get bored. I thought very very disabled friendly with fully disabled toilets across the site, and all walkway around the main marquees off the main paths laid non slip plastic duck boards had been put down for wheelchairs disabled buggies and electric wheelchairs could go and see everything, and plenty of free water stations to fill your bottles up to stop dehydration, saying of that plenty of 1st aid posts around the site and clearly marked with signs, and we'll stewarded. Overall extremely very friendly stall holders and staff everywhere and growing tips. I will be back again next year and quite a few more to come Phenomenal gorgeous displays in a beautiful setting. Come this year you...
