Didn't have our bookings! My friend and I both phoned on separate occasions in July to make reservations as a large group of 12 had booked a table in the Chinese above the dressers Arms in November. This was the only weekend all of us were available the same day due to shift patterns and family commitments, and the first time we had all managed to meet since before covid.

On the morning we were due to arrive I phoned to ensure that they had us down as a ground floor room, they informed me they had no booking. I explained that i personally booked 17th july and the price was confirmed .....we booked in July, no record! I asked my friend to call and check her booking, she had the same issue. This resulted in some of us being unable to attend the birthday celebrations that had been planned since July!

The birthday girl was very upset and phoned the guest house to be told "sorry, but have a good night!" How could she have a good night when 4 of her guests have no where to stay!

When we called in July they accepted our booking over the phone, they never asked us to book or confirm in any other way. They didn't seem to care that they had ruined the night for those unable to attend. Won't be booking any further events there again. Very...

I came with a group of around ten for the Greek night . I ordered a Greek salad due to not feeling hungry after a late lunch . I love Greek salad it’s normally fresh chopped lettuce sliced tomatoes cucumber , herbs , nice chunks of feta cheese seasoning and usually served with some nice warm pitta bread and sometime olives . Sadly My salad was 3 or 4 roughly chopped tomatoes in a side bowl with a few bits of red onion two matchbox sized feta cheese pieces , a few slices of cucumber and that was it . It had no real Greek seasoning on it , it looked a mess and tasted bland , to add injury to insult they charged 6 pounds for that ! For something knocked up probably due to busyness but still no excuse , very disappointing and ime sure any Greek person would be embarrassed to serve up !! Such a excuse for a salad so what happened! Too embarrassed to complain as with new friends but felt ripped...

I'm so glad I found this little gem. I nearly didn't go when I saw the Google reviews, but trip adviser rated it highly and I'm glad I followed their advice. I'm happy to leave a 5 star review as the food and service are excellent.

A good selection of ales and wine, a warm welcome from the bar staff and fantastic food. This is a real country pub with roaring fire and warm decor.

We had the Saturday steak deal. For £13.99 for two I wasn't expecting the steak to be up to much, but I can honestly say it was one of the nicest I have ever eaten. None of us wanted to drink the free bottle of wine, so they let us take it home unopened!

Reading the other reviews on here I can only imagine that the pub must have changed chefs as all the mains looked great. I wasn't too enamoured by the desserts on the menu, so didn't have one. But I'm more of a savoury guy myself.

I'll definitely...

Lovely pub, been several times on different days over the years but most recently on a Monday night.. just rocked up expecting a table might be available to be told they're fully booked in the restaurant so we grabbed a table in the bar area, not a problem as we were fairly easy on what we ate and could wait for it. The manageress and her staff were super friendly and helpful even when making it clear there is an expected wait time.. which ended up being less than we were warned about. The food as always was fantastic. On ordering I realised they offer a discount on Monday evenings which wasn't applied on ordering but was settled without qualm when ordering another drink. The drink selection is great also for both draught and bottled.. seeing the local breweries new additions in the fridge made it all the better too. Thanks! We'll be back soon as usual 😁

The food was incredible - everything tasted homemade and hearty. The gravy was rich and full of flavour, and both meats were perfectly tender. The cauliflower cheese was honestly one of the best l've had in ages - so hard to find one that isn't watery, but this was cheesy perfection. They even have a Sunday roast offer of two for £42 including a bottle of wine - such good value for the quality and portion sizes. Desserts were the perfect finish: a dark chocolate brownie that was pure chocolate heaven and an apple & berry crumble that was fruity, warming and comforting. Safe to say l'll definitely be back - next time it might have to be that fish platter! I post regular, local reviews on my Instagram @niceatsuk

Visited the Dressers arms on Monday for tea as it’s a half way point between friends. The staff greeted us upon walking in and couldn’t do enough for us, really friendly and polite. Whilst waiting we had Natchos to start, they were home made Large natchos! With loads of sauce & melted cheese! And desserts! You have to leave room for dessert here! They were superb looks and taste wise! Also as my wife is pregnant she struggles for different non alcoholic drink choices, here they had lots including Franklin & Sons sparking juices, really refreshing and a nice alternative.
