Such a shame, this was one of our favourite restaurants, have been regular customers for a while now. However, upon our visit tonight we experienced a disappointing meal, my partner suffers with OCD and the Red Cat was one of our safe places to eat. We ordered our usual vegetarian dishes, and when the food arrived we noticed a piece of RAW bacon on the side of his dish. We politely told the waiter not wanting to cause a scene, and he informed us that the kitchen would 'remake' the vegetable risotto, to our disappointment the risotto returned in a couple of minutes (far too quickly) and after a few tentative bites, noticed that the plate had simply been reheated and the piece of RAW MEAT removed from the edge of the plate (meat residue still on the corner of the plate). The kitchen staff hadn't even bothered to change the dishware let alone remake the VEGETARIAN risotto. After politely informing the lovely waiting staff, we left our barely touched meals and proceeded to leave. This has been a horrible experience for us as my partner severely struggles with trusting food in general and it's such a shame that this has happened to us of all people. We will not be returning. I suggest the chefs be retrained on food hygiene and...

AMAZING... My wife and I had a rare opportunity for a romantic meal out. We picked The Red Cat as we live locally and haven't actually been for a meal but always fancied it. God knows why it's taken us 9 years to get there. Wow, what have we been missing out on... It's super romantic, cosy, friendly, fantastic atmosphere, brilliant food, great menu that has such a variety to choose from. The food was brilliant, we had starter, mains and dessert, all amazing. The wine was great and the larger on draft was just as good. All the waiting staff were super friendly and very pleasant, they really made our evening enjoyable. The manager (who is Italian) who we also spoke with was very knowledgeable on drinks and food, he was brilliant and very chatty. The seating and spacing throughout the restaurant was perfect, such a good vibe and ambience. I think we found our new special treat venue. We had many drinks, lots of food and stayed around 2+ hours, the total bill was £108 for 2 adults, we had everything we wanted, can't complain at all. It was amazing! Can't thank the staff and chefs enough. Really made our evening something special. 100% recommend this place, you'll love it. Its a hidden gem. Can't...

This was our first time at the restaurant and I loved it!! The ambience of the place was great, cosy and romantic if with your partner or trendy but comfy if with your friends. The bar was immaculately clean with all the bottles and glasses shiny and tidy! We were met by a lovely girl who took us to our table, explained the menu & specials and looked after the kids with their little bull menu - cute!! We just so happen to drop on half price steak night - result so filet it was!! You need to order a starter or a sweet to get the deal but that can Be something as cheap as a garlic flatbread or ice cream so well worth it!!! I had pulled pork nachos and mick had ribs and we both cleared our plates!!! It was really really tasty. Our filets came and they were cooked to perfection - medium /well & medium/rare. The kids had chicken burger but this was a chicken filet not rubbish and fish n chips . Clean plates again!!! All in all a lovely chilled out, relaxed enjoyable meal in lovely surroundings with attentive staff and no shock when the bill came!!! Definitely one to visit and definitely one to...

Came for a family meal here, booked in advance (advisable) had a small wait for our table to be ready. Ordered drinks at the bar then went to our table. The building is very well decorated and has loads of character. Very cosy. Ordered garlic bread with tomato and cheese so best of both worlds - excellent Main was lasagne. A good size portion which was throughly enjoyed. Dessert because why not , chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream which was very enjoyable. The waiters / waitresses were very helpful and friendly. The main waiter was very friendly and we had a good few laughs with him. A really good experience coming here. Nothing is disappointing. Really enjoyed our visit and will return for sure.

Visited here on a Sunday. Nice to find a table 🙌🏻 Italian restaurant in a former pub, the vibe is traditional. The menu uses the same font as the awesome Uno’s Trattoria in Newcastle, so I had high hopes. Nice venue inside, with stone flags and space. The staff were accommodating and welcoming. Drinks on arrival yes. Menu is Italian - pizza, pasta etc. opted for mushrooms on toast to start - these were superb; rich and fulsome. For a main, went for the calzone. Tasty. The calzone was decent, but really needed sauce on the side. A little ragu or bolognese works perfectly. 🙌🏻 The beer was Peroni; as it was and as it should be.

I have walked past here a few times but tonight me & my wife & daughter called in. OMG! I have missed out on this place. The food is really the best Italian food I ever tasted. My favourite sweet Tiramisu is unbelievable. A new found favourite place to go for food. Trust me if you live in the area this is THE PlACE to visit 👍👍 NB: UPDATE: On a recent visit they seem to have put a 10% Service Charge on to the Bill????? For bringing plates to the table. Sorry but you don’t have to pay it but still we’re not in London we’re in Lancashire. You just may have lost my custom.
