Very expensive for a sit in Indian of this quality. All the curries we ordered were quite sweet, and the amount of chicken you get in the portion was pretty miserly - considering the price. Poppadoms at 95p each and over £10 for a main with little chicken in it is extortionate IMHO. The portions of rice served were the smallest I’ve had in a restaurant for a ling time. Compared to say, the multitude of Indian restaurants on the curry mile in Manchester, or my recent visit to an Indian restaurant in Eastwood, Nottingham - this was by far the worst experience of an Indian restaurant visit in a long time. They’re serving 4% Stella and this was a tad cloudy. Again, for the money I expect to visit a place that cleans its beer pipes regularly enough so the lager is not cloudy. The waiter was nice enough, but I couldn’t help but notice that his uniform was dirty - so again for me an issue of cleanliness I the place. I think if you’re going to charge higher prices for your curries in a sit down environment- what you serve should be absolutely top notch. Sadly in this case it was not on many levels.

We travelled 30 miles to visit Britannia Spice restaurant in Leith. Arriving there at 4 pm which is the time it opens according to the notice on the door. It was closed so we phoned there number but no one answered. We then went on their website and booked a meal for 4.15 pm. The booking was accepted. We waited until 4.45 pm still no one turned up and no one answered the phone. After returning home we phoned them to ask why they did not answer the phone and they said they would phone us back in 2 minutes. Which they never did. Awful service.

We ordered through deliveroo 2 rice and 1 aloo chicken and this came. Apart from all, the potatoes in the aloo chicken were raw and not even eatable so i can imagine how the chicken was. Didn't even risk to try it!!! I would not recommend it. When we phoned them all the guy on the phone tried to do is speak over us and not let us explain. Terrible currently sitting with mcdonalds!!! Better choice!!!!

The food at Britannia Lounge was not the best Indian I have ever had but was certainly good quality and enjoyable. However, the customer service was the worst experience I have ever had in any establishment. My wife and I and had seen a Groupon voucher for £40 of food at a price of £20 "for 4 people" and, knowing some restaurants allow some flexibility, I phoned Britannia Spice to ask in advance if we could purchase and use this voucher even though there would only be two of us using it. The person I spoke with did not speak the best English and so I asked the question very clearly and explicitly, underlining that we wanted to find out if two of us could use a 4-person voucher and the person I spoke to said "Yes". I also took the opportunity to ask if they catered for vegans and the person I spoke to assured me that they did. As a result, I phoned back after buying the voucher to book a table and we then went and dined there. At the end of the meal, the server questioned our voucher and so I explained what had happened and an older male server (perhaps a manager/owner or co-owner) came over and immediately verbally scolded us for trying to use a 4-person voucher. I explained that I had called in advance but he then accused me of "blaming his staff" and told me I had an "attitude problem". He then turned to his colleague and, in front of us and other customers, said "we don't want these sort of customers". Never have I encountered such an accusing, judgmental and hostile level of service which was not only very rude but was entirely unfounded. We shall not be going...

Not really sure where to start, we ordered drinks when we were seated, one of which was delivered incorrectly (Vodka and Coke ordered Glass of Coke delivered), then to the food order, Starters, Mains and accompanying rice and Naans ordered, the waitress scuttled away into the kitchen too late for us to request popadoms, when she reappeared we ordered the popadoms which were brought to the table along with the accompanying condiments, no sooner had they been delivered than the Main Course arrived!! For those keeping up we had ordered starters. I asked about the starter and was told “Oh I’ll go and get them” to which I promptly replied “please take away the Main then and bring out the starter” a very blank look ensued!! This was now against a backdrop of a couple speaking to the manager regarding how many flies they had killed and another couple in the corner who also volunteered that they had in fact ordered starters which never appeared. Long story relatively short we negotiated what we would pay for (Main Courses, Rice, Naans and drinks) after being presented with a bill for the full order (including the elusive starters), I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant on the basis of service (even the Manager would not come out and offer any form of apology or reasoning for the appalling service in a very quiet restaurant) give it...

This is a dishonest business! We booked our table stating we would be using a Groupon voucher. We were told they require a printed copy of the voucher. We arrived at the restaurant an hour later. Food was ok, but we had to request new wine glasses as they were filthy. After eating we presented the printed voucher when requesting our bill. They refused to honour the voucher stating that it can ONLY be presented prior to ordering. This is NOT in the T's & C's on the voucher nor was this stated when we made the Groupon phone booking. Not only did they refuse to honour the voucher but they were VERY rude and shouted at us. They shouted at us that if they took the voucher after ordering 'the owner would accuse them of stealing'. It seems clear now that this requirement allows them to adjust the portion size since we now can see several complaints from other Groupon/Wowcher/Taste card deal users about their portion sizes. Our portion sizes were quite normal and they clearly were not going to honour a deal on their normal portions. The manager actually suggested that we come back and use the voucher another time! I will be exchanging the voucher with Groupon to use somewhere else as we will NEVER go back after the rude shouting and...
