Firstly I cannot comment on the food or cafe which I have averaged at 3 stars.
I did however attempt to use their UPS collection and delivery service.
In arriving at the shop I waited patiently at the unmanned counter however due to the times waited pressed the bell at the counter. An older female came out a few moments later and I explained that due to my printer being broken I had been unable to print a label and asked if that was a service they could facilitate as I had a mobile barcode from UPS which I thought this was used for.
This customer facing female looked at me with disgust and advised me that they were not a Post Office. I explained that I had thought due to the option of the barcode it may be possible. I was told no. I was very confused and her manner was extremely rude and abrupt so started to leave to which she demanded I wait until she finds out.
I advised this rude female that due to her abhorrent manner not only would I not wait that she was rude and I would never use this delicatessen/cafe/UPS delivery point again.
Festival stores in kirknewton offer the same UPS service with happy, customer friendly staff. I would advise anyone to go there and not ruin their day with this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe popped into this little place on a miserable Saturday morning after seeing the pictures and reviews online. I had high hopes of the quality of the food given it is a delicatessen. I thought the price of the food would be reflected in the quality I anticipated. I think we caught this little place on an off day. The sit in was cold and dark which made it look a little tired inside. It has so much potential and the basis of something great. When the food arrived, the cappuccino was more of a flat white and the breakfast (Ā£14) was disappointing. The quality of the food I can only describe as being that of a supermarket and not a delicatessen. The bread was the exception to this and was lovely. The salad that accompanied the omelet was gritty. The omelette itself was good. It may have been just us being un lucky in our visit as the home baking looked lovely and the produce in the store looked top notch. A return visit may be a decider if this is a one off...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEven though this Delicatessen is on the outskirts of Edinburgh, I highly recommend that everyone should go. It sells drinks and food to a high standard and the food in the deli is hand picked. They have a great eye for high quality food and sell only what they would buy for themselves. The cheese selection is overwhelming, with only the best cheeses around the world being chosen to sit in the window. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the prices are amazing for the quality of food you get in both the deli...
