The restaurant is a true delight in Scotland, a country not exactly overflowing with culinary highlights. It is a genuine Italian restaurant – not just one with an Italian-sounding name or signage that recalls Italian cuisine, but a place where food is authentically Italian: cooked, served, spoken, and celebrated with a sense of italianità. The menu is varied but never excessive, which promises freshly prepared dishes. From the simplest offering (real bread – not toast 😉 – with excellent olive oil) to creamy burrata, classic pasta and fish dishes, and even a ribeye steak, the choice is excellent. By pre-order (definitely to be arranged in advance), you can also enjoy a Tagliata, cooked to the perfect degree. The wine list is carefully maintained and allows for fine food pairings. In addition, there are a few special bottles available in the restaurant, which the owner is happy to open to accompany a meal. Prices are a matter of friendly negotiation and mutual understanding but are always fair – something I can vouch for as a sommelier. Warm praise goes to Leandro and Paolo, true gems in the service team. Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to meet the owner and head chef, Cristiano. Yet this in itself speaks for him: after all, he was in the kitchen ensuring the quality. A restaurant I would recommend at any time, and one I’ll gladly return to. One small suggestion for improvement: white tablecloths! But that really is nit-picking, and of course, the restaurant deserves a little scope for future refinement, doesn’t it? Keep it up –...
Read moreThis was our first visit to Osteria and we went to celebrate my husband’s birthday , the restaurant was busy , another large birthday party was also in, the staff seated us early , the tables are spacious with plenty space between them so you’re not earwigging your neighbours conversation 😂 The food was delicious, the menu isn’t huge which in itself helped with deciding, we all had a pasta dish, my husband had the daily special, the food was definitely to be savoured, perfectly cooked pasta (al dente) and sauces - there was no rushing us to finish each course either & plenty time given between courses to allow time to chat and let the food settle . We had 3 courses , a bottle of wine , a couple of bottles of fizzy water and 3 cocktails on arrival , the cost was very reasonable indeed. The waiters were fantastic, very attentive without being overbearing and made a fuss of my husband by putting a candle in his canolli, we’d definitely go back again - I lovely find...
