China City — Restaurant in Colchester

Absolutely shocking. I have ordered from here since I was 16years old, I now work in a social club where our members will order food from there a lot and give them much custom. Only a few times have they before not included items and have always replaced and sorted out straight away so has been acceptable, the other day I was with my 8 year old son who wanted a Chinese, I asked like I usually do and a member of the club also placed an order so we had to separate orders, food arrived and my son only likes the chicken balls but they were missing along with the members S5 which had arrived was a 55. I called and the make receptionist started speaking really rudely to me telling me I was lying about the balls and their chef had said he packed them! (Regardless whether the chef says this I’m not sure what’s happened but I’m telling you they are not here) and my son needs to eat! He also would not stop arguing with me that I said 55 not s5 he told me people like me ruin their economy and that instead of just bring me the items so my child can eat he made us wait an hour by sending the driver back to collect food and only if we hadn’t touched it we would get a refund when alli wanted was my food! Sending the driver back who could see the missing items and was not sure why they would not send him back with the food and make the customer happy but instead He said I am not to order from there again and etc and felt so upset of the abuse I was getting. So disappointed staff have always previously been lovely and we will not be ordering from here ever again, completely...

Utterly vile! This is normally our usual now we are put off will no longer be ordering from here. Spent £70 on food for the Mongolian lamb to come burnt (black mostly) which I was told it’s always like that. Never had it that way before. The chow mein was noodles and chicken bland and just awful could have made it all better myself. The chicken strips not chicken balls were soggy and the ribs had no meat just fat. All of it just got thrown in the bin. I then phoned them up and complained and they said if I bring it all back how they got it as proof I would get some sort of refund so I got as much as I could out of the bin and put it in the bag went down there for them to go through it all and put it on a tray they then went through it all out back in the kitchen to come back and tell Me I’ll be getting a refund of £16! He said because I didn’t bring it all as it’s was in the bin they won’t refund anymore. Not sure what they wanted to do with all of it after it’s been in the bin unfortunately I wasn’t prepared to empty my bin...

The service and the delivery was really good although we were not very pleased with the quality of the food. Most of our food didn’t have much taste, there wasn’t enough flavour and didn’t have enough salt. If it was just one dish that we had problem with, I wouldn’t be writing this negative review but would be writing something positive. After a long day of working, all we wanted was to eat a nice chinese take away with my family but I think I won’t be ordering from this restaurant anymore since this will be my first and last order.
