Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Colchester

This place annoyed me so much I walked out the door.

Thought I'd grab a coffee as I was moving between departments. Walked in and stood behind the person being served. Once the customer in front had been sorted a lady and her daughter just slid Infront of me and the plank behind the counter just willfully started taking their orders. Assuming they may have been here before me and I just missed them some how I just stood patiently again waiting my turn. An old guy turns up and once the lady and her daughter were finished and moved away from the counter the plank started asking him for his order. I walked straight out the door at this point. Staff in the service industry that don't know how to keep track of queues and customers or at least ask who's next is a big pet peeve of mine and as an Englishmen I hate queue jumpers in general. Myself and my sister were served by a lovely girl called Sam, we were in Costa waiting for our mum to come out of surgery and stayed there for 4hours! We did buy food and a consistent stream of tea. Sam came over and said wow your still here, we explained that we were waiting for mum and she was so lovely said stay as long as you need, there was no pressure. We explained that we had promised a costa coffee and tea for when she woke up. When we went to leave and buy the srinks for mum, Sam had spoken to her manager and gt them for us for free! Sam is an angel disnt need ro do that but that is why i will go back again for the amazing service and fact we were never pressured out....

Unbelievably slow. I went to this Costa a few years ago when it opened and service was deathly slow. Today I went again, as an outpatient, and service was just as slow. I thought it had been just a case of staff training, and that it would get better. But nope! Even recognised one of the staff, and he's no better. Today I waited 15 minutes and gave up. I had an appointment to get to. I didn't ask for a refund. It would probably have taken them another half hour to do it. There were still 4 people in front of me!
