New Inn — Restaurant in Colchester

We hired the function room for our engagement party and we had the best time! As there was a lot of us (around 60 guests) they very kindly allowed us to have sole use of the function room (where we played our own music) but also have sole use to one side of the bar which worked amazingly for some of the guests that preferred to have a quieter seat inside near the fire. We also had our own outside area which was also made so much nicer by them having fire pits going for us! All of the staff were so attentive on the lead up to our celebration and on the night, we couldn’t be more grateful to them for helping us have such a special evening! Nice food but marred by poor bar staff. Slow at serving, and without enough memory to take an order for four roast lunches without repeated reminders from the customer. They also messed up the bill and phoned us once we'd left to ask us to come back and make up for their mistake. We obliged out of good will. However, the landlord/chef was excellent and made most of the visit right. Some notable heating in the premises would be nice though. The feeble wood burner would struggle to...
