Lovely coffee shop, I often get their matcha latte with oat milk :) is a nice place to have a chat with friends over a hot drink and snack! However, recently having been and ordering my usual, it had a horrible sour taste comparable to an out of date yogurt… I had friends try it too who confirmed that something definitely wasn’t right, one of which had to spit it out. Upon querying with the staff and suggesting that the oat milk may have been spoiled they denied that it could be true from a quick glance at the bottle alone, and although they remade the drink - which was much appreciated - they used the same clearly very off milk and I couldn’t drink it. I didn’t want to make a scene so didn’t say anything again. This seems to be a gap in training with some of the younger staff, as all it would have taken is one of them smelling or tasting the oat milk to check...

Went here for coffee on Sat afternoon 28 June, lovely young guy, chatty, asked if we wanted any particular music, very friendly and helpful about finding Colchester Castle. Enjoyed it so much we went back yesterday Sun 29 June, different guy, didn't chat could just be shy I suppose, pleasant enough but atmosphere not as great. Served coffees in mugs, one was dripping and sticky sides. No real interaction. Previous guy served it with a spoon on a little metal saucer which was great for me to scoop my frothy latte. 2 days 2 different experiences. Not at all an issue, both times we enjoyed our coffee, just felt the first time was a lot better. Would highly recommend this little Artisan place and the coffee, which we were told is Columbian, was lovely! If we lived that way qe would frequent definitely as a fave coffee place. ...
