The Centurion — Restaurant in Colchester

Went here to use a BuyaGift voucher from my partners parents. The girl that served us at the bar was amazing. She helped us understand what we could and couldn’t order from the menu. Unfortunately, the Avocado salad was not put through the till, despite my partner being asked what extras she would like on it. When it arrived at the table, it was missing most of the ingredients. There were no roasted peppers, Rocket, sweet and sour onions or spring onions. It was a basic mixed leaf salad that had all turned brown. It was literally just bagged salad with some chopped cucumber and red pepper mixed in. My spicy chicken burger was also missing the chorizo slices and the Frank’s hot sauce but I only realised this when it was too late because I was too busy fixing my partners problem with the salad. We ended up skipping the two free deserts because we did not want to stay. When we went to pay at the bar, the girl that served us had gone and the dishes that we requested to be put on as the 3 course offer on the voucher were all wrong. They mixed up my son’s dishes with ours which meant that we ended up paying more for the dishes that were paid items. Not a good experience and probably won’t be back...

Visited this pub today and asked one of the bar ladies if she could please keep my drink behind the bar as I wanted to go to the toilet and I was there on my own at the time watching football. Once I returned and asked for the drink she advised that she could no longer find it and that she just left it stood at the bar so someone must have taken it - I said to her that I can’t believe she didn’t even hide it. I’m not mad that the drink is gone, I just bought a new one but the fact that I could have drunk something that could have easily been spiked at a very busy bar. I turned to her and told her that was very safe of her to do then (sarcastically) as I was in disbelief of her careless action. She didn’t respond and carried on serving. This pub has great service from the friendly staff. It has a table service app with a large outside area with large tables and heaters for the evenings. The food is very nice. Around 10 pounds for a main. The even do fun food like a pizza cone. It has chips and cheese in it with dips included for 10 pounds. You can watch sport if that's your thing. Drinks are a bit pricey but I'm a northerner so I'm bias. Talking about the drink in which I sampled many in my last visit, there is a good variety of drinks. Any thing you can imagine, from shots to craft ales, wines spirits, ciders and larger. The toilets are upstairs so if you have issues getting around or are disabled this may be an issue. All in all a great place to meet and socalise with friends but expect to spend between 50 - 100 pounds on...
