The Perfect Chef — Restaurant in Colchester

I ordered fish and chips and 2 kebabs on a pre order ready for 15 mins later. Arrived and paid. Waited over 30 additional minutes, to then be told my food was on top of the counter, I asked if it had been there all the time I was waiting and was it still hot/fresh...got a muttered response while he unwrapped my food and put his sweaty hands on it to feel if it is was still warm before wrapping it back up. Got home, unwrapped the food and not edible, chips reheated today many times and soggy, fish was thick with grease and luke warm. Chicken kebabs cold and slopped together in a container. Called to advice shop of this and they said fine for a refund if I came back in. Went to the shop straight away and they refused to give me my money back only new food! Why would I want to eat there after that experience, I will never eat here again - , they are unhygienic, handling cash and touching food at same time, no social distancing, too interested in taking cash (why no card payments!) rather than hygiene. WILL NEVER USE...

Went in yesterday ordered a large pizza, repeatedly asked them to not burn it as I went back to car to look after son.. came back it was burnt said to the manager its burnt is attitude and customer service was very poor like he wanted a fight, Then the owner said I do you a second one and then the manager was asking customers if it looked burnt to them and telling the owner what to do then he said do not come back trying to push me out the door.

Do not buy a pizza as they always burn the pizzas and to the owner PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STAFF IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AS THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT AND NOT TO GET AN ATTITUDE WITH THE CUSTOMERS, and the customer may have a bad digesting system on digesting food thats why he repeatedly asked you not burn it, so think about the customers requests.

Visited for the first time today and I can't speak any higher of this establishment. Friendly staff and superb food, the chips are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, the batter on my fish was nice and crispy and the portions are very generous. They even gave me a few chips to eat while I was waiting for my order to be cooked.

3 years after posting my review and I stand by everything I said. I've ordered from here several times over the last 3 years and every time the food has been delicious! The portions are generous and very reasonably priced, there are so many options on the menu that you're sure to find something you like the sound of. This is one of the best chip shops...
