Fantastic little pub tucked away in the dingy back streets of Colchester. Blink and you’re miss it . Friendly bar staff . Separate games room away from the main bar area with pool table and small raised terrace outside which overlooks the river ( didn’t go up there as it was peeing down ) and an inclosed seating area out back . A few funny named beers/ales/bitters on tap which they will gladly let you sample before you buy . Didn’t have food here but I have friends that are regulars and they say it’s top notch . What a lovely traditional pub this Is. We only stopped by because it was instant monsoon season and we took shelter within. We were welcomed very warmly and was made soft drinks for the kids and a very nice cup of coffee for us. The place was very clean and the toilets amongst the cleanest I've seen for a very long time. Great for drinks and pool, in summer you can sit on the balcony, 5 stars if they start to do good food like top quality gourmet burgers and stuff, because it would be a good spot for lunch or an early dinner, with a good kitchen such as Hungry Horse, more seating and customer parking this would be my go-to place for eating and drinking ! But for what it is it's a great local pub to hit for a few ciders...
