Trotters Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Colchester

Went to a surprise 60th Birthday Party here. For an "All Adult" party it would be fine but this is not suitable for children/family and it is right on the bend of a main road. There is nothing for them to do, so boredom sets in. It's an odd shape, very long and narrow, not great for lots of people, cramped. They also don't do buffet food for parties or anything, you have to order off their menu and buy, but then they stop serving at a certain time anyway, so we ended up walking somewhere else (as the children were hungry) to get food and then returning to the party. I can see it would be fine to come here and get a "passing through" drink, for a professional couple. Overall I wasn't wowed by anything. It is certainly aimed at a specific type...

we held a surprise party for my partner at your lovely venue it was ideal for us and the amount of guests we had I would like to thank the lovely young lady behind the bar she worked very hard all night on her own and was very helpful and served everyone with a smile and very fast no one had to wait long. all in all we had a great time and would highly recommend your venue for a private party. its a breathe of fresh air to book a venue with really helpful staff and also not to be ripped off with hiked up prices for drinks etc . so once again thank you for all you did to make this party a great night...

Really nice place. I had my 30th here. When we got there the staff didn't seem to know we had booked it but this was not an issue. We had to move some tables to have somewhere for guests to sit but there was a lot of us so this was fine. Staff helped us to connect our Spotify playlist so we were able to choose the music.
