Very disappointing experience at Da Luigi.
We were a party of 5 adults and 2 children, and upon arrival to our table we requested high chairs. (These were requested when booking the table) They then told us that they only had 2 high chairs in the whole restaurant and they were both being used. Expecting a 17 month old and 2 1/2 year old to sit on normal chairs. Not child friendly at all. They also don’t have a children’s menu. We ordered our food and I had asked if the bread basket could come as soon as possible as the baby was getting hungry. 20 minutes had passed and still nothing. I asked asked again and it took a further 10 minutes for the bread to come to the table. We had our mains and then left.
On a whole it isn’t child friendly at all, it was busy and we felt cramped on our table with service rushing around. It feels they want to fill every space of the restaurant with people but forget about proper service and what they can actually handle as a staff team.
RESPONSE TO OWNER: Thank you for taking the time to reply and I appreciate you disagree that your restaurant is child friendly but my experience yesterday to me felt like it wasn’t child friendly. As having a child sitting on my lap with no available high chairs is not comfortable and our whole meal was disrupted because of this. Also, when asking for the children’s menu and being told there isn’t one nobody explained that the meals were half price for children or that anything on the menu could be prepared for them. It would have been nice to know this.
As a parent yourself I hope you can see my upset as it made the whole experience very stressful when it was meant to be a nice...
Read moreHaving dined at the establishment last night I have to say that it did not live up to expectations - I am thus compelled to leave a review as this restaurant could be a real gem if they up their game. It is worth noting that we have been regular patrons of the restaurant for a number of years and residents of Campden. The service was customarily good - friendly and efficient - no fault there whatsoever. Aside from the weirdly branded bottles of olive oil on each table, the ambience is nice, but could have been a tad more festive/seasonal i.e. some Christmas decorations inside wouldn't have gone amiss. I must also say that the seating was not at all comfortable. Now the food - I can only describe this as mediocre at best and overpriced for what it is. The Monkfish starter was delicious, but the calamari was rubbery, poorly presented and a wedge of lemon was nowhere to be found. The Lasagne main was well overpriced for this type of dish and I suspect it was microwaved - aside from the nuclear heated center, it was not hot, fresh and bubbly on the surface nor was the plate hot. Additionally, the seasoning was bizarre - lots of Aniseeds some of which were quite crunchy...not at all pleasant. Not recommended. Pudding was Tiramisu which was very tasty, but way too heavy and stodgy for what a Tiramisu should be. So unfortunately based on the quality of the food and the frankly extortionate price for what it was (I have paid alot less in central London for delicious, authentic Italian) we will be giving this place a miss for the foreseeable future or at least until it...
Read moreHad an absolute nightmare of an experience at this location. Went there with my uncle to order pizzas to go. Firstly, we were met by the people at the bar who were completely lost and unsure how we were to place and order. They pointed in the direction of the manager. When we spoke to the manager he initially brushed us off. I asked him what size the pizzas were and was completely ignored while he was on his iPad. After some prompting regarding the placement of our order, my uncle ordered two pizzas and began to provide his name. My uncle has an ethnic name and the manager cut him off abruptly and said he didn’t have time to write his name down and wrote down ‘zim’. My uncles name is Waseem. Not that hard to write or pronounce. We confronted the manager about this blatant racism/disrespect and he fixed the name and put in our order mumbling something about not being able to speak English. After we got the pizzas the orders were incorrect. I wish we had checked our order at the store. The pizzas themselves left much to be desired. Mis-shaped thick crust with poor quality cheese and toppings, barely seasoned at all. We noticed similar treatment of other customers who had just entered the premises. Please avoid this place...
