Really disappointed. Went fir Sunday lunch. Booked for 3.45 avoiding busy period as we had our two small grandchildren with us. On booking ask for 2 high chairs. We arrived early and sat outside for a drink. We informed them we were there. Yet when we went in we were guided to the very back of the restaurant, lots of steps, which was difficult with two little one. High chairs were not at the table, had too wait while they went to get them. They took our order some time later. and advised how to use the salad bar. Which again with two little one was difficult, as we had to go in two separate goes, so the little ones were not left alone. I asked for mayo for the little ones salad and was told it was at the end of the counter, so seeing a white tub shaped bottle with pump, unmarked, went to put it on salad when I realised it was sanitiser, how dangerous. We got back to table, no cutlery, but no one yo ask close by, so hubby went on the hunt for knives and forks, by which time little were ever to start and not happy to wait. I mentioned cutlery to waiter who just said oh yes I forgot. Still no cutlery appeared. Hubby ask a waitress who was putting it on other tables, he response was I will have to see if we have any spare ??? What were we ment to eat with! So hubby took it off another table, and surprisingly neither the waitress or waiter brought any to the table. Food arrived and was poor to say the least. Kid meals were rubbish, and cold. The £15 surf and turf skewer was 3 pieced of tough beef and 3 over cooked prawns, very greasy with a pieces of flat bread, the side of coleslaw was 1 teaspoonful in a pot, and the peri peri sauce was about a tablespoon, I asked for sweet potato fries and got chips. The burger with blue cheese was full of drinking grease and over powering nasty tasting blue cheese. We had been finished for over 15 mins when they came to clear table and ask about deserts, which took another 15 mins to come, so by this time kids were totally fed up and to be honest so we're we. Deserts where the highlight of the meal. But you can't go wrong with ice cream and pre made cakes ? Frankly the whole experience was unpleasant and we won't be going again. Harvester if this is post pandemic service your not really encouraging people back to the restaurant.

Been to the elms a few times before and had lovely experiences before hand , however this last time was not very enjoyable, rudely greeted by the hostess. I asked if they had any tables for 2 available however they were very busy due to 40% off mains which is understandable, however once we took a seat in the bar area, people who haven’t booked were offered to sit in the restaurant area and if people were outside offered to come in. The bar table we were given was not properly reset leaving us with only 2 knives and when i asked for a fork i was told where to find them. Our starters arrived and i looked at the cheese and bacon potato skins i ordered and they were poorly presented and burnt to a crisp. I then noticed they didn’t have any bacon on whatsoever. I went up to the bar and explained the issue and they bar staff were very understanding and got them taken off the bill. The rest of the food was ok and served quickly. The whole time the floor staff were rushed off there feet. While the manager/hostess on duty was just stood at the host point glancing between the laptop or her phone rather than assisting her staff. Overall just a very average visit. Thank you to the waitress behind the bar that was very nice and understanding about everything, unfortunately didn’t get her name.

We spent Christmas Day at The Elms Harvester, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we walked in, it felt festive and welcoming. The team had really gone all out with the decorations, and the atmosphere was just buzzing with Christmas cheer. The staff were incredible—so friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It’s not always easy working on Christmas Day, but they made us feel like they genuinely wanted to be there. Nothing was too much trouble, whether it was topping up drinks, checking we had everything we needed, or just chatting and adding to the lovely vibe. And then there was the food—wow. Every dish was beautifully cooked and served piping hot (which is no small feat on such a busy day!). From the classic roast turkey to the indulgent desserts, everything tasted amazing. You could tell they’d really thought about the details, and the portions were just right—plenty to enjoy without feeling overstuffed. The whole experience felt effortless, but you could see the hard work that went into making it so smooth for everyone. It was such a stress-free way to spend Christmas, and we didn’t feel rushed at all. If you’re considering dining out for Christmas, I can’t recommend The Elms enough. They absolutely nailed it.

Twice I've come here the first time a woman called rona spoke to me like something she had trodden in and tutted at me when I asked to sit somewhere quiet as my daughter has autism and we don't want her disturbing other guests with her ticks. (Last year)

This time we sat in the same space was asked to move having to lug everything across the pub aswell as being heavily pregnant not fun. But didnt want to create a problem. We had to go to a more busy area of the pub setting off my daughters ticks where again we got spoken to like rubbish funnily enough by the same woman! As nearly a year ago clearly hasn't changed her attitude in that time funny how when middle class folk come in her whole act would change up being so kind and welcoming couldn't do enough for them.

The food was vile the portions were small the portion my daughter got was 3 slices off a mini fillet and a handful of veg my 10 month eats more than that we had to feed her off our plates to bulk out the meal. My partner orderd a rather pricey mixed grill with all the extras when we asked about the extras we got "there on your plate whats the problem" they was no where near what they was advertised. The tension was disgusting from the staff we ended up walking out half way though our meal and going home as we couldn't take the rudeness anymore. My daughter didn't even get desert we paid for!

Just read to check the reviews to make sure it wasn't a me thing and 2 people who was there the same time as me have put reviews in no way am I in connection or know these people this is clearly a attitude problem this staff member has

Even though the food wasn’t the best and the atmosphere felt a bit dark, Maria truly brightened our evening. She brought cheer, warmth, and laughter to our table at a time when our family was going through some grief. Maria was incredibly friendly, bubbly, and chatty — the perfect example of what a great server should be. Right from the moment we arrived, she welcomed us warmly into the restaurant, guided us to our table, and clearly explained everything we needed to know, setting a really positive tone for the night. She related to our family’s struggles with genuine empathy, asked about our dietary requirements, and gave helpful advice on the menu. She even noticed when I didn’t finish my chips and seemed genuinely concerned, which made me smile. Maria was also very thoughtful about our experience, even turning the music down for us so we could relax and talk more comfortably, and she chatted with me about how tall I am in such a friendly and lighthearted way that it made the night even more enjoyable. Although it was quite pricy, Maria went above and beyond by helping us find the salad bar and toilets, making sure we had everything we needed, like extra cutlery, and really catering to our needs. She did her job effectively and with genuine care. Despite being one of the only servers working that night, she remained professional, attentive, and trustworthy, making us feel comfortable and cared for. Maria’s service was a perfect 10/10 — she clearly explained the food, deals, and discounts, and went above and beyond in every way. She definitely...
