Really rude service. This has happened on more than one occasion now and I feel there is a prejudice towards us as we all have young children in pushchairs. The first time i ordered an iced coffee it came with cream it doesnât state this on the menu and when I said oh itâs got cream she said yes iced latte very abruptly, this time I asked for no cream and again very abruptly the woman on the counter said blended or on ice? I said iced coffee as i have never had an iced coffee blended and a little explanation rather than rudely just repeating what you said the first time wouldnât go a miss. Last time we went they asked us to move the pushchairs out of the walk way (baring in mind there is nowhere else for them to go) there was ample room for people to walk past and if someone needed more space we would have happily manoeuvred the pushchairs to accommodate anyway. So yesterday my friends and I have gone in with our pushchairs we have all ordered lunch and drinks and as the cafe was half empty weve just moved one table slightly to fit a pushchair out of the walk way, one staff member rushed over saying NO you canât move tables. I explained to her we are paying customers and last time we was spoken to rudely about them being in a walkway, she then went and gossiped to her colleague behind the counter. A couple came in and sat at the table quite comfortably and I asked if they had room and they said yes plenty, this one staff member came over and asked âhave you got roomâ which again was to clearly try and make us uncomfortable. Then when our food was served she came over and asked if we could move the pushchairs to put a highchair back (that wasnât used by us) we asked if this could wait until weâve ate our food as the cafe wasnât busy and we found it an unusual time to ask whilst trying to eat. No welcome, no smiles. Generally very rude staff and will not be going again which is a shame as the food is enjoyable. I understand you arenât the ritz but a simple hello and a smile goes a long way when running a business. Remember you never know what someone is going through and if they are coming to a cafe that could be their one slice of joy...
Read moreAs a regular customer at Mocha lounge I had an absolutely horrific experience at Mocha lounge today! I went in and asked whether the jelly for children's tea was suitable for vegetarians and was told it was not. I then ordered a cheese based meal for myself as well as the kids tea without the non-veg jelly.
After a few minutes, a staff member came over and asked whether I was also vegetarian. I said yes and she complained saying she had already started the meal and I should have said so beforehand. I agreed with her, apologised and offered to pay for the wasted meal. She said no thanks and went back to the counter.
When my food came, Lyn served the meal and complained about how I had wasted the cheese meal. I apologised again and offered to pay. She carried on complaining and speaking to me like I was a child. She then went back to the counter and carried on complaining about me to her employees in front of everyone! How rude and unprofessional!!
I understand I should have specified which cheese I wanted beforehand but I apologised many times and offered to pay for the wasted meal! I did not deserve to be spoken to like a child in front of others and Lyn did not need to go up to the counter and carry on moaning about me. If the monetary loss was so dire to her then she should have let me pay!!
I have been here before 20+ times by now since the first day they opened. I think perhaps Lyn is now showing her true colours now that she has regular customers. Surely she knows how to treat a regular customer by now!!
Best of luck to Lyn for her business but I won't be coming back here again!! Owning a business doesn't give you the right to be rude to anyone-especially a paying customer! If I had the same attitude as Lyn then I would have also childishly pointed out infront of everyone that the 'washed' glass she gave me actually had lipstick stains...
Read moreAs a frequent customer, I'm delighted to see this dog-friendly café is now open on Sundays (the perfect day for a lazy coffee and cake after walking the dog), service is a little slow and forced - as though the staff there don't really want to be. I even had to ask one young lady to wash her hands as she had just finished filling a dishwasher with dirty plates and was about to go straight over to the cakes to cut me a slice. The atmosphere is rather flat too and the decor drab and tired. It has such potential - the food is great; the portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. But it lacks the passion and attention to detail that give any business that special X-factor people always go back for and...
