1-Star Review
We visited the Coventry branch recently to celebrate my 40th birthday, and the experience was completely ruined by the unprofessional and rude behaviour of the general manager, Dovile.
We had a table booked for 8:30pm and arrived slightly early at 8:15pm. We were told the table wasn’t ready and to come back at 8:30pm, which was fine. However, when I checked again at 8:30pm, we were given no update, no apology—just told to wait. By 8:45pm, we were still sitting in the bar with absolutely no communication from the staff, despite having an 11 with us who were getting increasingly hungry.
At 9:10pm, my wife asked why we were still waiting, and the response was shocking. Dovile dismissively told us they had taken too many bookings that night. When my wife pointed out that perhaps they should have accepted fewer reservations, Dovile sarcastically replied, “Thanks for the advice,” and walked off. The sheer arrogance and lack of basic customer service were unacceptable, and we weren’t the only ones being spoken to like this.
Frustrated, we decided to leave without eating. I have been a regular customer, frequently using the bar for drinks and client meetings, and I’ve always found the other staff to be excellent. However, this is not the first time I’ve experienced rudeness from this particular manager, and I won’t be returning if this is how customers are treated.
I understand that restaurants get busy, but there was zero effort to reassure or accommodate us, no apology, and a complete lack of professionalism. A manager should lead by example, and if she can’t handle a bit of pressure, she is in the wrong industry.
What should have been a special night was completely ruined. Avoid this place unless you want terrible service and a dismissive attitude from management.
After contacting the complaints team we were offered a £50 voucher which we used at the Stratford Upon Avon restaurant which was completely the opposite end of the scale in terms of service. They were excellent.
I wasn’t looking for a free voucher though, I wanted an apology from Dovile to my wife for being so rude and some reassurance that they would deal with her unprofessional behaviour. I have emailed twice about this and both emails have been completely ignored so it would seem it’s not just Dovile that lacks basic customer...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Miller and Carter for the first time this evening, and we were thoroughly impressed by the entire experience from start to finish.
Upon entering, we were greeted with a warm welcome that instantly made us feel at ease. The service throughout the evening was exceptional, with all of the staff being friendly, polite, and incredibly attentive. It was clear that they genuinely cared about making our dining experience memorable.
The food was simply outstanding. Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. The steak, in particular, was a highlight—it was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. It’s clear that Miller and Carter take great pride in their food, and it really shows.
Although it is a steakhouse, the restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Beyond the steaks, there are delicious options like burgers, ribs, and other grilled specialities, catering to a range of tastes. The extensive selection of beers and wines also means there’s something for everyone, whether you're looking for the perfect pairing with your meal or simply a drink to enjoy on its own.
We were seated in a private, cosy booth near the open kitchen, which added to the intimate and comfortable feel of the evening. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between formal and relaxed, making it an ideal spot for both special occasions and casual dinners.
Overall, I highly recommend Miller and Carter to anyone looking for a unique and delightful restaurant experience. Whether you’re a steak lover or just looking to enjoy a fantastic meal in a welcoming setting, this place has something to offer everyone. We will definitely...
Read moreGood food, poor services. Table for 4 booked at 4:30pm Sat, just to make sure that they are not too busy (and they weren't). We asked for changing table to any next to the wall, as my 5 yo daughter likes to sit on a bench. The no-smiling-at-all receptionist who guided us to the table said they can't, although there were at least 5 empty tables like that. Great excuses including the two benched-tables next to us need to be merged very soon, the others over there were not ready, blah blah. Then a no-smiling-at-all waitress came but when she found we needed a little more time to revise the menu (as it was out first time in M&C), she left for about 10 mins. When we were ready to place an order, we had to wait for her to come back and to complete some lengthy conversation with another waitress, despite a significant effort of eye contact from us. Orders were joylessly taken with extensive questions of who order what, notes were also taken, but when the dishes came, the same questions were asked again. Tbf, the food was good (well, we paid a good price for it), although it could be served quicker, given the amount of customers at time (5pm). The only welcome gesture we received on the day came from the smiling face of Anita, the slim African waitress who brought us the bill. By the time we left, there were still a couple of empty benched-tables, the 4-seat benched-table next to us was only occupied by 2 adult customers, whilst several other tables for 2 were available. Obviously, no merged table at all. So, we were not left hungry, but we were not so happy. We wouldn't come back again, as we would seek a higher level of customer...
