Mama's Indian Takeaway — Restaurant in Cyncoed

Never usually have a takeaway curry but we thought we'd try it after seeing the reviews so high on JUST EAT. Unfortunately will not be going back in a hurry. We went in on a Tuesday night at around 7pm and placed our order and got told it would be around 20mins. We said we'd pop over the shop and come back. We came back after the 20 mins and found that we were sat waiting for another 40 mins. When the food finally arrived we got told that they didn't have a certain starter that we ordered so they gave us an alternative. They could have poped their head out and asked did we want something different. When we took our food home got to be fair the main courses were easy 9/10 wasn't oily and very flavoursome. However the starter was dreadful and inedible looked and tasted like it was dropped in cold oil. The rice was clumped together and the naans were diabolical. The breads were 100% shop brought an reheated I could have done that myself for a fraction of the price. Me personally don't think the JUST EAT reviews are genuine. I have spoken to a few other friends and they have had a similar experience from this establishment. If i were to go back I would only order the main course (jantar matter, chicken rezela) and get my sides from elsewhere....

Subject: Complaint Regarding Order

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my recent order from mamas Indian takeaway for my friend’s birthday.

Incorrect Order: The items delivered were not what I ordered. This was incredibly disappointing, especially for a special occasion.

Late Delivery: The food arrived much later than the estimated delivery time, which disrupted my birthday plans.

Poor Food Quality: When the food finally arrived, it was totally inedible. The taste was off, and I could not enjoy any of it. And the paneer tasted like medicine. (We ordered Palak paneer but we got saag paneer, dont tell me they are same because palak paneer is edible with green gravy. The chicken was also raw that we ordered. The salad was smelling bad, and the onions were also had gone bad.

Hygiene Concerns: To my shock, I found hair in my food. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the hygiene practices of the restaurant. I hope your kitchen gets closed for not maintaining basic hygiene.

This is without a doubt the best Indian food I’ve eaten, not only in Cardiff but out of the multiple meals I’ve ever had across the Uk & in India. Their food is always delicious! Our meal was delivered this evening, at the time they said it would be & it was piping hot & with generous portions. Sadly they missed the popadoms from our order, something I’d normally overlook but this evening I was craving a popadom with my curry. I let the shop know but if I’m honest there was zero part of me that thought they’d actually drop one around! I don’t know of a single other takeaway that would have bothered! I was over the moon when a short time later they turned up not only with multiple popadoms but also with some yummy, complementary, snacks. This was on top of the delicious, complimentary bhaji’s they’d already included in our order.
