⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Absolute Gem! A Must-Visit for Proper British Fare. Time & Plaice truly deserves all the praise it gets. While it's famous for its fish and chips, I was in the mood for something classic and went for the Pie with Mash with Liquor. Let me tell you, it was phenomenal. The pastry was golden, buttery, and melted in the mouth, giving way to a rich, deeply flavourful filling packed with tender steak. The mash was creamy and smooth, and the liquor (that parsley sauce) was the perfect, savoury accompaniment. A proper taste of tradition, executed perfectly.

My other half had the Traditional Fish and Chips, and after stealing a chip (or three), I can confirm it's some of the best we've ever had. The batter was incredibly light, crisp, and not a bit greasy, shattering to reveal beautifully flaky, fresh cod. The chips were golden, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. The service was warm, friendly, and efficient. The place had a lovely, bustling atmosphere that felt authentic and welcoming. It’s clear a huge amount of care and skill goes into the food here. I dined at this venue for the first time today, despite walking past it countless times on the way to the juicer. I had high expectations due to reports from my business colleague, Nigel, but they were surpassed! The menu has everything you need, from pie and chips to fish and chips. My friend took the pie and I went off piste by taking calamari and chips! It's astonishing that some people confuse calamari with onion rings in 2020. We were offered either mushy peas or garden peas with our dishes. We both selected the peas from the garden. The food was absolutely brilliant and so was the service. We also enjoyed some great banter with Kev and Gill, who have recently returned to the UK after 11 years in Australia. If you want good food and great banter, then Time and Plaice is your place!

It was a takeaway so the atmosphere doesn’t count We called in 40 minutes after fish and chip mushy peas twice was supposed to have been delivered. First man didn’t seem to speak a lot of English but as we called we got the delivery! Delivery man had been looking for wrong address so order was cold and incomplete. We got 2 pieces of fish 1 chips and 1 mushy peas ! So I called back … I so wished I hadn’t both the man and the lady were so very very rude .. was offered another peas and another chips probably in an hour.. it was how not to do customer service.. awful rude so rude and I was talking to a lady owner who would not share names the man who wasn’t too good at English came on the line and said they were busy and to request a refund and put the phone down!! I had to call back as unsure how to get a refund! Still very rude ! Sadly it’ll be the last time we order here we have lots of choices but this was always the best… maybe new owners but hey!
