Sushi Magic Bar — Restaurant in Doncaster

Complete surprise.

Having just moved from Sheffield City Centre, we were spoilt for choice of Sushi restaurants all good enough quality. Doncaster seemed a difficult comparison where we were slightly anxious about the only sushi place in Doncaster. We were completely surprised. The food is very very good. Completely rivals the city restaurants. Flavours very comparable to Let's Sushi in Sheffield.

Cute shop with friendly and personal service. Food served well presented and good portion sizes. Reasonable price and flavours tasty and authentic.

There are some items I'd expect on a more extensive menu missing, but I think they are concentrating on what they can achieve a good quality at - which I commend.

Unfortunately, I have not had a good experience with this restaurant. The first time I ordered, the food was about 15 minutes late. The second time I ordered, on a particularly hot summer day, the food was "on the way" (I assume in the car) for over 50 minutes! I expressed my concerns to the restaurant and wanted to cancel out of concern that I was going to be served warm sushi. They insisted on delivering it and when the sushi finally arrived they said not to worry as it had been in the "fridge". Upon opening the sushi orders, both were dangerously warm - I had to throw them away. Shame really, the food is okay considering how limited sushi options are in the area but will no longer...

Placed the order at 6.30, arrived at 9.15. Got told they were really busy. If you're too busy then stop taking orders and dont have people waiting nearly 3 hours for their food. The pork gyozas were terrible and after having to heat up the katsu chicken ramen soup, where the chicken breast must have been off a dwarf chicken, I ended up throwing it in the bin as it was terrible. What a complete waste of money and time. There should be an option to give no stars as they don't even deserve 1 star. Steer clear and order from somewhere...
