Great local, warm friendly atmosphere. A great selection of trad ales, even had some nice modern craft ales too such as Beavertown Gamma Ray, though a bit pricey for drinks, this place makes up for it on food and the portions sizes. The pizza hand made, £11 for a nice stone baked pizza of choice, comes with your own pizza slicer too, great for sharing. The chicken wings, both sticky BBQ and Hot Chilli are delicious and the wings are Huge, not like some Albino anaemic battery chicken these things must be free range and have a gym membership. The steak baguette was tasty, nice marinated beef that was melt in your mouth, accompanied with the classic fried onions and fries. It was nice to see some Katsu Chicken on the menu too, sliced up friend chicken with a nice sweet tangy katsu curry sauce. Great value for money. We went on a Wednesday night where there was a quiz, good fun and lots of banter, even a cash prize of £450 if you played a raffle for a got on 'play your cards right', so something to consider but maybe avoid if you want food a bit later as they stopped serving at 8pm. They were busy so waited a little while to order. The menu is extensive but we had decided on Sunday Roast ,we were not disappointed. For £11.99 you get 2 good slices of meat , chicken ,beef and 1 other on offer , a Yorks Pud, large pig n blanket, stuffing, cauliflower & broccoli cheese, roast & new potatoes, red cabbage & 2 other veg plus individual jugs of a delicious homemade gravy . Very good value for money, more than enough to eat ! Tempted by the sweet choice we were glad of the fairly lengthy gap before choosing crumble of the week..cherry this time ..and custard. Again the size of the sweet was more than plentiful & I only managed half of mine . With 2 drinks each & change out of £50 we will definitely return . Updated as of 15/7/23. Previous visit was 4 weeks ago. Just popped in to clean our tastebuds coming from the Haden Cross. This place the loyal lodge was delightful. Staff amazing, great drink selection and great pricing. Sadly didn't get in time for the start of bingo but I'm sure it would have been a blast.

So finally came here for food and personally my meal was a bit disappointing but everyone else in my group said it was satisfactory. The philly cheesesteak was very fatty and the wrong sort of cheese was used. It did take a good 40 minutes for food to arrive from order but we did also have to wait a good 25 minutes for 2 starters. Food portions are very large on certain dishes and could do with been shrunk. Also there is a inconsistencies in the desperado been served. Some staff offered lime/lemon but others did not.
