Seven Stars — Restaurant in Dudley

I can forgive the fact that it was a Monday, so Eat Out to Help out was in full force, however bad manners, attitude from staff was beyond a joke. We ordered drinks at the bar all good, then when I asked if a table was available, I was told by the gentleman behind the bar on the 24th August 2020 at around 2pm, just said you’ll have to have that one, pointing to a table in the bar area, and then told your not gonna be sitting in the main room you know that! I agreed as we wanted to eat, and was told he would bring us a menu. After 15 minutes, I walked to the bar to get a menu as three couples who arrived after us had been given a menu and their ordered taken at the bar! I was told by the barman to sit down and he will bring one over eventually. At this point we left. I very rarely leave any form of review on places, but Seven Stars either need to look at changing staff or at least changing attitude. Sunday afternoon and the restaurant side was quiet, we were the only people eating. All of the high chairs were absolutely filthy and covered in dirt/cob webs , asked for the high chair to be cleaned but it was still dirty even after this. Womens toilets-only one toilet working. Black mould on windows, dirty floor in cubicle. Food was good but tasted warmed up rather than fresh. There was a drunk guy who is clearly a regular walking in and out the kitchen , could smell the alcohol on him and he was after food. Unsure if he worked there? Was swearing and basically being a nuisance but everyone knew him.

This pub has so much potential but it needs a good deep clean and needs to be improved in the restaurant area. The fact it was completely dead on a Sunday afternoon in a restaurant speaks volumes.

Waitress/bar staff were lovely and helpful and there is no issues there at all. I would seriously be looking at cleanliness and clientele , given the area it could be an amazing pub. But it depends what management want...

I won't give a 1 star for service as the girl behind the bar was lovely but the young lad that collected my plate with a top knot needs to improve on his customer service an eye roll is not an appropriate answer to a customer complaint... food was either cold or cremated... not the usual marstons pub grub... won't be returning... just vile didn't accommodate for the large table booking we had and it was all very rushed to get us ordered and cooked before 8pm! Just avoid! There's far better marstons to eat at! .... none of our guests were given a refund so that's a lie... and like I said the member of staff simply rolled his eyes and walked away from my table... and if they weren't rushing us why did the lady with pink hair come out to us 5/6 times asking if we had ordered yet? ... pressurising us to make choices from the very limited menu... and gas leak or no leak, your staff said one thing but the notice said the other .......
