Dangerous. Run by thugs who will chase and threaten you!
When I lived locally, Vakas was my favourite curry house. Food was good (If a little slow) and the owner and staff were nice, so much so I got Christmas gifts off him every year (a calendar depicting pylons of Bangladesh and a mug! š¤£) Having moved away, I took the ex to Vakas a few years back, having been raving about the food. Alarm bells should've rang when the neighbouring tables all left their food. The manager was nowhere to be seen. Food was inedible, and only managed a mouthful of the curries and naan it was so bad. I asked the staff if there'd been a change of management and commented that the food quality had changed and pointed out how little we'd eaten. Next thing, on walking back to my car, which was parked in the back car park, the chefs chased after us, threatened us and one of them got into my car, preventing me from driving away. We had to call the police and only then did he got out of my car. One of the most terrifying moment of my life! I don't know if the scumbags were ever charged, but I doubt it. So sad what was a one nice restaurant is now run by violent thugs. Visit at your own risk!
Edit: Just look at the owners response below, claiming I'd made the incident up! Gaslighting responses like this are the very reason women don't report abuse, as we're told we must be crazy, and made the whole thing up! The incident happened on Sunday 11th May 2014. I left a review on TripAdvisor in 2014, to warn women about the restaurant as at the time, more people read TripAdvisor restaurant reviews compared to Google. I have been in contact with West Midlands Police who can confirm they had to attend the restaurant on the evening of 11/5/14 . Crime reference no 2208. But even now proof is provided, the owner will no doubt continue to attempt to gaslight me and continue to deny the incident happened and make out that I am just a silly woman who's made the whole thing up! I am not out to ruin anyone's business. The owner is doing a pretty good job of that himself, by denying and defending his violent staff members and implying that I'm lying. Women deserve to know which businesses are dangerous for them to visit, which is why I have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered Tandorri Chicken and it came out raw. I then recieved another Tandorri Chicken which was bone dry. Our rice appeared way after our main course had arrived. I explained my disappointment to the manager and his words were, "sometimes Tandorri chicken comes out raw when we're busy." I doubt we will be visiting again.
"Yes 1 of the leg piece did come out abit out raw, which we apologised about and straight away rectified it with another full portion of a whole chicken" - All 4 pieces were raw, I checked all of them, "You then ate 3 piece out of 4, you didnāt say anything about dry but untill the bill came to you" - I picked at 2 pieces out of 4 which were bone dry. I didn't eat one whole piece, it was awful! I told the manager prior to requesting the bill. This was the point that the manager admitted that your Tandorri Chicken sometimes comes out raw when you are busy. "Which was already discounted for you because of the problem. And then you said you didnāt enjoy it, even though you had majority of the meal. Which is a very big meal, as itās a whole chicken. So the manager at the time took your whole meal of the bill, so basically that was in total including the side and main, Ā£17 off the bill. We did everything we can to make up for the error and apologised" - Firstly our bill came to Ā£41 plus a few pence, you then had the cheek to offer a Ā£5 discount. We refused because serving raw chicken followed by the rice arriving once my wife was half way through her main wasn't acceptable. You begrudgingly agreed to discount my meal Ā£11.95 off the bill. I paid you Ā£30. Not quite the Ā£17 you quoted on here. "We believed you left happy but now you leaving a review, which is fair enough. We appreciate negative and all positive reviews but itās quite hypocritical to be happy when you left then reviewing you not gona come again" - You believe I left happy therefore you assumed I was happy. If I was happy then I wouldn't have left a review. I was really disgusted that you had the audacity to serve raw chicken, serve rice part way through the meal, openly admit that your Tandorri Chicken is sometimes raw when you are busy and then have the cheek to initially only offer a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs long-term take-away delivery customers, I am deeply saddened and furious after ordering a takeaway to be delivered this evening to find that they had not included chips and had sent the smallest salad which was supposed to be for a Chicken Tikka main meal. On phoning the restaurant to complain, I was told that āit was a standard size salad and do we want the missing chips next timeā? They were not helpful at all. Last telephone conversation was with someone who claimed to be the owner and said āwe re-delivered the chips and the salad is the correct size for a main mealā. (Attached photograph of the salad⦠you be a judge of whether this is an acceptable size salad for a main meal). Half a slice of cucumber, half a cherry tomato and around a tablespoon of shredded lettuce; not enough to feed a toddler! After re-heating the food, chicken texture was tough and the meal had to be thrown away. Whilst trying to discuss these issues with the owner, I was told that they were busy and then he put the phone down on me. HOW RUDE! In recent months, we have noticed a reduction in portion sizes and items missing from orders are becoming more prevalent but we usually let it go. However, tonightās experience will be the last time we ever place an order with...
