Stephens Bakery - Drive Thru — Restaurant in Dunfermline

30 years I've used Stephens and things have changed. I've always been partial to their brides and potato and bean pies. Now the steak bridie is just a shadow of how it once was. Used to be nice chunks of steak with a really nice flakey pastry. Now the meat tastes cheap and nothing like it once did, also the pastry has changed too..... seems more like a pie pastry now and just not as good. The potato and bean pies are just not the same quality as before either. The drive through gets the thumbs down from me. I recently bought a steak bridie and a potato and bean pie and some rolls from the drive through..... I guarantee that while the rolls were fresh, the bridie and the pie were from the day before..... Both extremely dry and overcooked through being reheated from the previous day..... this was very obvious from the state of the beans on the pie.... If I had seen it in that state on the shelf, there's no way I would have accepted it. I'm not saying I won't use stephens again, but because the standard has dropped, I'm more liable to choose Greggs as they seem to have improved...

So upselling is more important to the staff than customer service. I was told to add cakes, it is actually cheaper than without, as it is part of their meal deal. This was not the case and when I asked to do without it caused the staff member to interrupt me and raise her voice, as she tried again to upsell. I had to be direct and refuse extras, which do cost money, they are not reducing the cost. I asked the lady if her job was to serve or to up sell.....she told me her job was to up sell to every customer. Be warned, they do not like negotiations over false promised reductions. They are now an overpriced bakers and will not be receiving my custom again. Complaint will be forthcoming. Also, they block the road with their queues and an accident is sure to...

They were very friendly, we just happen to be driving by and saw them, and I told my husband to stop by a bakery, we were not disappointed, the ladies that were working the front desk and the gentleman were so sweet and nice, especially the lady with the short blonde cut, but the glasses on, very pleasant. The treats were so fresh and good if I could, I would’ve bought the whole store brought it home, but we got what we could and since we’re visiting we have enough to last us until Friday. Thank you so much for making our visit...
