I work In hospitality therefore I don’t often leave negative reviews however, my family and I have repeatedly had really disappointing service at this cafe. Today we were seated and then staff didn’t provide us with menus for at least 10-15 minuets. They acknowledged that we were here because multiple team members looked at our table from around the bar where there were at least 4 memebers of staff chatting and then some cleared some empty tables around us but we still weren’t given menus. My brother ended up just taking the menus himself from the front. I initially brushed past this point because mistakes happen but nothing improved from there. Once again no one came to take our order, it wasn’t as if they were busy with other things and just didn’t get around to it, the staff members were once again stood around the counter together chatting, this continued for 15 minutes until my brother once again went up to ask if we could order. The response he got from the waiter who served us was almost as if we were bothering him by asking to place an order. When he came to the table he was very blunt and cold, almost coming across sarcastic. Our food arrived very sporadically which happens sometimes I understand however, the staff serving didn’t say anything between these times. No one came to ask us how our food was or to ask if we wanted anything else and when we were given the bill again the waitress didn’t ask if our food was okay or make any sort of conversation. Every part of our experience seemed to inconvenience the staff and it’s a real shame because we’ve given this cafe a lot of chances to improve but from all of the other negative reviews it’s clear that the management do not care about the customer experience or improving the standards of the extremely poor...
Read moreI get it; we were eating at a farm shop so we have to pay farm shop prices for the high quality product we get. This I do not have a problem with. I do have a problem with the quality and price of the accompanying products. We ordered the fish and chips for £17.00 and had to pay an extra £1.95 extra for mushy peas. When it arrived the fish was excellent - what you would expect but the mushy peas came in what can only be described as a thimble and the chips were not chip shop/real potato but the preprepared frozen kind so having to pay £4.50 for an extra portion really got to me when they arrived. Cut to the other dishes ordered: the Dirty Hot Dog was great with ample toppings of pulled pork and pickles - although I thought the bun may have also been either slightly stale or unfrozen. Was it worth £12.95 with no accompaniments apart from the thimble of coleslaw?... debatable. The burger on the other hand was excellent and I definitely had food envy when placed next to my hotdog. Beef from their hand-reared cows topped with thick bacon and cheese - great stuff! The pizza was really enjoyed by child 2 and was ample enough for her. Finally the drinks: the chocolate milkshakes were excellent (very chocolatey remarked child 3) and the fruit smooth was thoroughly enjoyed. My flat white was warm - not hot - and was more like a latte if I'm honest (needed more coffee). Sorry to moan: we went into it knowing it would cost a lot and that was ok but there were a few sticking points which I had to share when shelling out £90 for lunch for 5! Thanks if you made...
Read moreTopsham or Tuscany!! We tried the gelato here after seeing the coming together of this restaurant and we couldn’t have been more impressed!! The gelato was straight out of Italy quality and I felt like I was in the Tuscan sunshine rather than sea breezy Topsham. The young man who served us was impeccable in his customer service and couldn’t have done more to assist us. Nothing was a problem & he was more than happy to allow us to try the flavours. He was also incredibly knowledgeable about the way the gelato is made & the ingredients. I was also impressed with his pallet skills as scooping without a scooper isn’t easy! It was genuinely lovely to be treated well by service staff. I had the Choc hazelnut and all I can say is you’d be NUTS not to try it. It has a predominantly hazelnut flavour with beautiful rich chocolate notes in the background , which means it’s not Overly sweet. My husband had the banana bread which was like freshly picked, sun ripened bananas, it was fresh and fruity but again wasn’t sickly sweet. The waffle cones are also very good as they’re lighter than clouds & have the perfect crisp to accompany the ice cream. If you have never been to darts farm before then this place alone should be MORE than enough to get you there. EXCELLENT, well done to...
