Overall a poor experience, it seems the restaurant at Darts Farm has really declined since we used to visit regularly a few years ago. Every staff member we had contact with was sullen and moody. We waited for around 5-10 mins to be seated, despite there being plenty of free tables, no queue and lots of staff milling around. Then a further 10 min wait to order food, and around 25 mins to arrive. The food was okay, pretty unremarkable and expensive for the portion size. When it came to paying the bill, we couldn’t get anyone to come to the table so had to go to the counter, again I found the staff to be quite rude, no checking if the food was okay or thanks for visiting. They were more interested in chatting with each other behind the till, getting cakes to take home and looking at each other’s tattoos. Very much felt like they have recruited from the local sixth form with no leadership in place to ensure the level of service is reflective of their prices. Won’t be returning, there are many better options in Exeter and the surrounding area- Mango’s on the quay in Exeter...
Read moreStopped here after a morning at Topsham pool. Food market was great and wasn’t expecting a whole lot of the restaurant but it was convenient for lunch. It was incredibly busy and we had to join a long-ish queue for a table but not for long because the staff were very efficient and really on top of turning the tables over. Something that might seem minor but is to often overlooked is the quality of the furniture; all the tables and chairs were solid wood and solidly constructed so there was no wobbly furniture and it added to the comfort. The table service was equally efficient and while everyone was having relatively simple sandwiches for lunch, they were served up swiftly with excellent sprouted grain salads with a bottle of dressing on the side which I wish more places would do. The coffee came from EXE coffee roasters and was the best coffee I had whilst on holiday in Devon (other than at the EXE coffee cafe in Exeter itself!). The whole site is worth a stop for the food market, large playground, other shops and mini petting farm...
Read moreSo much more than a farm shop!
Came to Devon for a holiday and this was our first stop, before heading to the accommodation.
Had a brioche gelato bun, with strawberry gelato, dark chocolate syrup 😝 ( i ordered cherry 🍒 syrup) covered in honeycomb pieces.
If I'm honest I wasn't all that impressed with the cow & cocoa cafe.
The farm shop is amazing, they have everything you could want, from freshly squashed orange 🍊 juice, ( you can squeeze yourself and I did), home made bread, pies, quiches, cheeses, black pudding, meat, crisps, fruit, veg, tea, coffee and a section with a huge selection of wines, beers and ciders from Devon, along with the big name spirits.
As well as having the farm shop, they have a fish restaurant, a snack bar and a bar serving pizzas and flat breads.
A spa, a home store and a clothes shop, are also included in this venue.
Definitely...
