The Baytree Cafe — Restaurant in East Devon

Oh dear.

I have been here frequently. I have 1 egg, 2 bacon, 1 fried bread, fresh tomato and a latte. I’ve kept going in as food freshly prepared and always well cooked.

I go in by myself, I cause no trouble to anyone else.

Alas today, another customer - a window cleaner guy in shorts, was very rude and very nasty to me. This was in called for, and another guy with him told him to apologise. He didn’t - he just became even nastier saying I should sit elsewhere. I was sat at the table by myself when 2 men asked if ok to sit the other end, which they did and were then joined by the window cleaner.

I do not deserve such nastiness - does he bully lone older females? Very unpleasant.

I will NOT go back to the cafe ever again. I thought it was a safe place to be, but clearly isn’t.

So Mr Window Cleaner you have totally spoilt one of my life’s simple pleasures. No doubt that...

At the Bay Tree Cafe, 11 Mill Street in Ottery St.Mary, you are always guaranteed a warm welcome, good Service, and well-cooked wholesome food at very reasonable prices. It's a no-Frills Cafe, not a Restaurant for Visitors, so if you are looking for fancy Coffees, expensive Pastries and Avocados you had best look elsewhere. The Bay Tree can oblige with a great Fry-up or a tray of Fresh Local Eggs however. The good food and excellent value for money attracts folk from all walks of life from workmen to pensioners and everyone in between, so the Bay Tree can sometimes be quite a busy Social Hub. From the moment you walk in to the cafe, a warm welcome is waiting to greet you from Sally and her really friendly and attentive staff.

The food is always freshly cooked to order, good sized portions, served quickly, really tasty and all very modestly priced!
