Afonso's — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

Popped in for the first time a few days ago, even though I’ve lived just 200 metres away for the past 15 years! Somehow it’s never been on my route. I went for a double espresso, which cost £3. I have to say, as someone who enjoys coffee with a more nutty flavour (rather than acidic or bitter like Nero), this one sits nicely in the middle. It’s not too acidic, not too bitter, not too nutty – just a good, well-balanced coffee. The staff were friendly, and paying by card was no problem at all – no moaning about small amounts like you sometimes get in other places. The place looks fresh and nicely refurbished inside too. I’ll definitely pop back to try the food next time....
